The Visionary of S.A.Y.O (Sports And Youth Orientation) Initiative, Sayo Owolabi has advocated for the return of the glorious era of school Sports in Ogbomoso and Oyo State at large.
He stated this at the just concluded SAYO OWOLABI Table Tennis Tournament which his Initiative organized for Secondary Schools in Ogbomoso, Oyo State.
He recalled how Inter house Sports Competitions and Inter School Football, Relay and other sports competitions used to be the order of the day in 80s and 90s but has in recent times been a scarce occurrence.
The Lawyer cum Sportspreneur further stated that discovery of sporting talents at such a young age will not only be a tool for youth engagement but also a means of establishing and empowering those who are to pursue a career in Sports which is a multibillion dollar industry worldwide.
The SAYO OWOLABI Table Tennis tournament a two day affair featured 16 students with 8 each in the Junior and Senior categories and at the end of the of the Final day all the students were awarded One Year Full Scholarship and also got Academic Support Gift Packs as they were admonished to study well and still keep doing Sports.
Sayo Owolabi also made a presentation of table tennis equipments to the host school, Ogbomoso High School prior to the Grand Finale which had the principals of Ogbomoso high school, Mr. Ladipo and Ogbomoso Baptist High School, Revd. Dada in attendance alongside other officials of the Schools.
S.A.Y.O (Sports And Youth Orientation) Initiative was conceived to Discover, Develop and Deploy talents in Sports, Academics and the Creative Industry in Ogbomoso and beyond for global exploits.
