West Ham United are keen to sign Belgian star Timothy Castagne but rivals Tottenham Hotspur are also interested.

West Ham owners Sullivan and Gold make pledge after change of stance over Declan Rice future

That's according to Italian transfer guru Nicolo Schira who made the claim at the weekend.

Schira made a name for himself with West Ham fans by revealing the club's record £45million move for Sebastien Haller last summer.

And he took to Twitter at the weekend reporting that West Ham and Tottenham are battling to sign right-back Castagne.

The Belgian has been one of the stars of Atalanta's amazing rise to Champions League prominence over the last two seasons.

West Ham and Tottenham have a big advantage in signing Castagne.

Schira claims the defender 'dreams' of playing in the Premier League.

And he also says Castagne is highly likely to leave Atalanta, claiming the Serie A club have lined up another West Ham target - Joakim Maehle - as his replacement.

Leicester have also been linked. But the Foxes are well served at fullback, with Ricardo Pereira and Ben Chilwell two of the finest in their positions in the Premier League.

The 24-year-old can also play at left-back, making his signature even more attractive for West Ham and Spurs.

Castagne has also broken into the Belgium side in the last two years, earning seven caps and scoring twice.

Timothy Castagne could leave Atalanta in the next months: he dreams the Premier League, Schira claimed on Twitter.

Leicester, Tottenham and West Ham are looking him.

Atalanta are really interested in Genk right-back Joakim Maehle to replace Timothy Castagne, who could leave in the next months.

Aaron Cresswell has proved both inconsistent and injury prone over the last few seasons.

And on the right, Ryan Fredericks is also up for sale (Claret & Hugh) having failed to establish himself while emerging star Jeremy Ngakia could leave West Ham at the end of the month for nothing after rejecting a contract (Daily Mail).

Spurs also need to address their fullback situation.

Danny Rose has been shipped out on loan while Tottenham have never truly replaced Kyle Walker and Kieran Trippier.

Castagne has an average match rating of just under 7/10 according to football statistics website Whoscored.com.

The versatile star can also operate in midfield, which will be another attraction for Moyes and Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho.
