Date set for West Ham PL return as club owner delivers inside information

West Ham United could resume their battle for Premier League survival in less six weeks.

West Ham’s battle against relegation has been on hold since March due to the global health crisis.

The country has since gone into lockdown.

And there is growing uncertainty over when, how and indeed IF West Ham’s season will resume.

There has been claim and counter claim over West Ham's willingness to get on board with the Premier League's Project Restart.

West Ham hierarchy set for latest Project Restart meeting

The West Ham hierarchy will be involved in the Premier League’s latest summit today (Friday).

Hammers vice-chairman Brady was savaged when she became the first Premier League Club official to break ranks and declare the season should be ‘null and void’ at the start of the outbreak (The Sun).

Brady later backtracked after reportedly receiving a dressing down from her boss, West Ham co-owner David Sullivan (The Daily Mail).

Jamie Carragher singled out West Ham for criticism in his latest column in The Telegraph.

Carragher took aim at Brady and West Ham in The Telegraph column headlined “The season must finish – clubs threatened with relegation cannot be allowed to postpone game’s return.”

Conflicting noises over West Ham's desire to resume

Claret & Hugh, which has a direct line to co-owners Sullivan and David Gold, claims West Ham are one of 11 clubs resisting the season resumption.

But now a mystery Premier League club owner has poured cold water on such claims by telling Sky Sports there is 'no chance' the season will be cancelled like has been the case in France and Holland.

And West Ham could be back playing by June 8th, less than six weeks from now, after Sky Sports revealed the date set out in the Project Restart proposals.

Mystery owner says 'no chance' of cancellation as return date revealed

There is no desire to end the season at this time, the club owner told Sky Sports anonymously.

We want to play the games. There is a great will to play the games.

We simply can't afford to not play but nothing will be done without government approval. If we wait for a vaccine or herd immunity it could be 18 months without football and 90 per cent of clubs would go bust. Even if we sacked 95 per cent of our employees, we'd still go bust because we would still have to pay the players.

Gary Neville also confirmed the June 8th date in a post on Twitter.

But he suggested the fact nobody wants to put their name to it speaks volumes.

June 8th for the Premier League return! Neville said on Twitter.

This is being briefed anonymously. No-one wants to put their name against this one!

West Ham are 16th in the table but only outside the bottom three on goal difference with nine games to play.

David Moyes was relying heavily on home advantage being key to West Ham's survival hopes having broken the back of a glut of tough away fixtures.

Six of West Ham's last nine games were at home, many of them against sides in the bottom half.
