Tomas Soucek joined West Ham on loan in January from Slavia Prague.
According to the Guardian, the Hammers had to pay a £4.2 million loan fee for the 25-year-old, and can make the deal permanent for an extra £14.8 million in the summer…if they avoid relegation down to the Championship.
Soucek has only played four Premier League games for West Ham. But he has already really impressed.

The 25-capped Czech Republic international has racked up eight tackles, eight interceptions, 12 clearances and 10 ball recoveries (premierleague.com).
He has added some much needed athleticism, power and energy to West Ham’s play in the middle of the park. And Hammers fans will be desperate for Soucek to be kept on this summer.
It will be an absolute travesty if West Ham do end up going down. Of course it will. And missing out on Soucek would rub salt in the wound.

The Czech has totally transformed the Hammers' midfield when he has played. And for just £19 million, he would be an absolute steal.
Soucek is clearly very well suited to the Premier League. And he is perfectly primed to be Mark Noble's eventual successor.
£19m for a player with the 25-year-old's quality is a real bargain. And if West Ham fail to sign Soucek, they will have to spend a lot more than that to bring in a player with similar attributes to the Czech.
Relegation doesn't bear thinking about. And missing out on the 25-year-old midfielder will be a very harsh consequence of that.
