West Ham left-back Aaron Cresswell was the unlikely hero in the Premier League clash with Manchester United. Cresswell scored a sublime free-kick to put West Ham 2-0 up against Man United.
Andriy Yarmolenko - another player who has received criticism recently - netted the opener with a low left-footed finish. But Cresswell sealed the three points with an inch-perfect free-kick into David De Gea's top corner.
The Spaniard got a hand to it but could not keep Cresswell's effort out. It was a real moment of magic from the 29-year-old in the second half. And it meant a lot to him personally after his poor start to the season.
Cresswell was replaced by Arthur Masuaku after struggling in the opening game. But he roared back with a solid defensive display and an inspired free-kick to help West Ham to a win and a clean sheet.
Some West Ham fans had to take to Twitter to eat humble pie and praise Cresswell's performance. The much-maligned Hammers defender was impressive against the Red Devils and deserves to receive kind words. Here are some tweets discussing his free-kick and overall display.
