West Ham midfielder Josh Cullen picked up a man of the match award on his Republic of Ireland debut. Playing in a friendly game against Bulgaria, Cullen earned his first cap and played the full 90 minutes.
Mick McCarthy recently called Cullen into the senior squad for the second time but he could only watch on during Thursday night's 1-1 draw with Switzerland. However, McCarthy gave Cullen his first taste of senior international football on Tuesday evening.
The 23-year-old did not disappoint. He produced a dominant performance in midfield - as Charlton Athletic fans have grown used to watching. After excelling in the Championship, Cullen took his form into the senior side and impressed for the Boys in Green.
There will inevitably be comparisons drawn with fellow central midfielder Declan Rice. Both came through the ranks at West Ham and played youth football for the Republic of Ireland. But while Rice switched his allegiance to England, it looks like Cullen will continue with the Irish.
Here are some Republic of Ireland fans discussing Cullen's man of the match debut.
Brilliant display! Well deserved @JoshCullen Great to see another Charlton Irishman running our midfield #Kinsella #Holland

I like this kid should play before any of the starters in midfield in the last game tbh.
