England U21 manager Aidy Boothroyd has drafted West Ham youngster Grady Diangana into his squad. Diangana joins Queens Park Rangers midfielder Eberechi Eze as late additions to the England U21 squad.

Boothroyd has decided to pick these two midfielders, who have both been excelling in the Championship, to replace two injured players. Arsenal's Joe Willock and Burnley's Dwight McNeil have had to withdraw from international duty with Diangana and Eze taking their places.

Diangana has represented England at U20 level and will be hoping to make his U21 bow. The Young Lions have two Euro 2021 qualifiers; away in Turkey on September 6 and at home (Hull City's KCOM Stadium) against Kosovo on September 9.

Grady Diangana: January recall possible?

West Ham sent Diangana on loan to join Slaven Bilic at West Bromwich Albion during the summer window. The 21-year-old has wasted no time in establishing himself at the Hawthorns and he now has three goals in four league matches.

Diangana scored twice in the away game against Luton Town to earn West Brom a comeback 2-1 win from the bench. And he added his third goal last weekend with an exquisite dink over Christian Walton as West Brom beat Blackburn Rovers 3-2.

The left-footed playmaker has impressed so much that Boothroyd has called him up for England U21's upcoming games. And Manuel Pellegrini needs to be watching Diangana ahead of a potential January return.

West Ham have a recall clause, allowing us to bring Diangana back to East London in January. If he continues to excel, West Brom could lose him just like they did with Harvey Barnes last year.

But Pellegrini has to make the decision based on what is best for the club and the player. If Diangana can make an impact for the Hammers, he must be recalled in the January window.
