Report: West Ham made late enquiry for PSG's France international, were quoted just £13.5m

According to a report from French publication L'Equipe, West Ham enquired about Paris Saint-Germain ace Layvin Kurzawa on transfer deadline day.

And the Hammers were allegedly quoted just €15 million (£13.5 million) from the French champions.

So why on earth didn't Manuel Pellegrini bring the Frenchman to east London?

West Ham do have Aaron Cresswell and Arthur Masuaku in the left-back department, but neither have particularly impressed over the past 12 months.

And Kurzawa would have been a massive upgrade on both of those players.

The 26-year-old is a truly elite player, and his experience of playing at the very highest level would have made a real difference to the Hammers.

The 12-capped France international possesses exceptional technique, decent pace, and he has a superb delivery.

Kurzawa would have slotted right into Pellegrini's setup, what with the Chilean's penchant for his full-backs to bomb forward and join in with attacks.

And for just £13.5 million, he could have been a real bargain for the Hammers.

Perhaps West Ham will go in for him in January. But for now, Pellegrini might just live to regret not bringing Kurzawa to the London Stadium.
