Vikings Have Their Chance to End Reign of Packers

Teams in the Nfc North have watched how the Green Bay Packers have controlled the NFC North the last five seasons. Following their Super Bowl victory with four consecutive division titles, the Packers have controlled with an iron fist the division.

Over that period, Minnesota is 1-10-1 versus the Packers with their only win a thrilling victory 37-34 during week 17 in 2012. The last two seasons, the Vikings finished with divisional games that were inconsequential, while Green Bay was winning the division titles in games against the Chicago Bears and Detroit Lions.

Now, Minnesota has their chance of dethroning the Packers in a national televised Sunday Night game at Lambeau Field with the winner be crowned the NFC North division champion.

They will play a Green Bay team that had two second string tackles in the starting lineup in their humiliating loss to Arizona.

Minnesota will come into the game following close loss against Arizona followed by two lopsided wins at home setting up the big showdown on Sunday.

The past is the past said Adrian Peterson the star running back for the Vikings, but the team talked tough five weeks ago when they hosted the Packers at home and lost 30-13 in front of yes, a national television audience.

Minnesota went on to go 1-3 following that loss, but have won 2 of their past 3 and look strong after beating the New York Giants on Sunday night.

Prime time prior to their strong performance Sunday night against New York has not been good to the Vikings, but with the Giants now a distant memory, the Vikings are looking forward to another chance in Prime Time versus Green Bay.

Green Bay was throttled by Arizona on Sunday with Rodgers suffering the worst loss since he became a starter for the Packers. Injuries have hurt the Packers even before the season started with the loss of Jordy Nelson and throughout the first 15 games.

The Packers will likely be without their starting offensive tackles again this week, but at least will not be facing a defense as strong as Arizona’s is.

Minnesota will look to establish a running attack against the Packers with Peterson early and use the accurate throwing of Teddy Bridgewater to hit passes over the middle and in the flats to move the chains down the field.
