Are we serious, millionaires on strike!

There's been a lot of talk recently about the NFL and the current labor dispute with the referees. There are many upset Sport Fans out there. Most sport fans want the Strike settled.

Myself, I could care less if the strike is settled.  I have a hard time sympathysing with people
who make over 100K and want to go on strike. That's a lot more than I make. A lot more than most people.
I guess the NFL wants to take away their pension and turn it into a 401K. First of all, most places of employment don't offer pensions anymore, unless you are a government worker, teacher etc.. You are lucky to get a 401K with a company match.

So yah, referees who work approximately only 3-4 months a year and make over 100K, will have a hard time getting my sympathy. So maybe they'll lose their pension. Join the rest of us. They are living the good life in my book.

Do I want the strike settled? Sure. Do I care? Not really. I rather enjoy people who earn more than me going on strike. I love it!  In fact, I'll order some popcorn and watch all  the commentary about the strike.

I hear talk about player safety. My sons played Div 3 football. Could have been some of the same referees
the NFL is using. I didn't see any safety concerns. Is the stage bigger. You bet. Safety issues? Really? Really??  We could always have state troopers on the sideline. They are all adults aren't they? Do they want to make more money than most of us can only dream about? Do they really need to be policed while they're earning that money?

I hear complaints that referees are missing calls. Really?? That's something new. Never heard that one before. Has anybody done a study comparing missed calls last year vs. this year? I've been complaining about calls since my kids were playing Pop Warner.

Do you know why the strike won't be settled for a long time?  Do you know why? Because 95% of the fans watching TV can't tell the difference. I'm one of them. They only know about the bad call because commentators, sports analysts and radio talk show hosts point it out to us. That's why. While working the chain gang at one of my kids games, I mentioned to the referee that the quarterback was over the line of scrimmage when he passed the ball. Do you know what he said, " I suppose you're correct" but the game went on. Life went on.

Who's right? Don't know. Don't care. But, I do know if I was making 100K a year I'd go to work. I'd even go in a little early. And if I was making 10M a year. I wouldn't worry about who was watching me. I wouldn't worry if they were doing a good job. Maybe the referees need to make a choice." Can I live off 100K a year, only working 4 months a year." I know I could.
