AGL Power Rankings, Week 2: Guess Who Is Back At Number 2?

1 They seem to have mastered the drudgery of the AGL regular season, even if its only two games in with Lima announcing his comeback to scoring. Six points from two games is good enough for you to maintain your position at the top of the table. LAST WEEK: 1HIGH: 1 | LOW: – Latest result: Win at Al Nasr 1-0 Next AGL match: Bye Week (-/-) 2 Douglas with his 1st hat-trick of the season. Yes, we made it sound like he is going to have many more of those. Most likely he will. But that was not the only feature that stood out. Brazilian Caio is playing in an all too different of a level at the moment, with another stellar Performance. And then there was poor Asprilla who got stomped on for a bit of show-boating which was entertaining, nevertheless. LAST WEEK: 4HIGH: 2 | LOW: 4 Latest result: Won against Emirates 5-2 Next AGL match: Bye Week (-/-) 3 Another 2-1 win. The most underestimated of middle-tier teams in the league in the past few seasons who are currently flying under the radar. Power Rankings advises you to not sleep on the Dubai based club. They’re playing good football without the presence of a big match-winner up top. LAST WEEK: 5HIGH: 3 | LOW: 8 Latest result: Won at Ittihad Kalba 2-1Next AGL match: Home against Baniyas (14/010) 4 Put together a fantastic display against Al Wasl, but got kicked off their rhythm against Al Wahda. However, a point away in a derby is necessarily not that bad. LAST WEEK: 3HIGH: 3 | LOW: 4 Latest result: Draw at Al Wahda 1-1Next AGL match: Home against Al Sharjah (15/10) 5 Took them 8 minutes before the half to destroy Al Dhafra. After conceding the first goal, seemed like they had lost hope but little did we know that it was just their way of warming up. Interesting strategy!! LAST WEEK: 10HIGH: 5 | LOW: 10 Latest result: Lost against Al Dhafra 1-3Next AGL match: Home against Al Nasr (14/10) 6 Deserve the massive jump in the table. Answered critics by clearly dispatching Hatta at home. A little worrisome that Gelmin has yet not fired off. He and Sharjah will need to come up with an answer to that very soon as true test is yet to come. Good to see Adrian hulk off after a stunner. ادريان يحرز هدف #الشارقة الرابع في مرمى #حتا#دوري_الخليج_العربي pic.twitter.com/LfldaFmSup — قناة دبي الرياضية (@dubaisportstv) September 23, 2016 LAST WEEK: 12HIGH: 6 | LOW: 12 Latest result: Won against Hatta 4-0Next AGL match: Away at Al Jazira (15/10) 7 The last time they showed their superiority over Al Ahli in regular league play was in May 2014. Since then, they have either been 2nd or 3rd best in Dubai. And they are clearly missing the scoring aptitude of Wanderley and Nilmar. LAST WEEK: 2HIGH: 2 | LOW: 7 Latest result: Lost against Al Ahli 0-1Next AGL match: Home at Al Wasl (14/10) 8 Hard to overlook the fact that, 2 games into the season, this team is still win-less. The offense looks sub-par considering when you have the likes of Tagliabúe, Dzsudzsák and Valdivia and more so as questions are raised when an Emirati in the team scores. Of course, they usually figure it out, so we are going to hold on for a while before letting lose. LAST WEEK: 7HIGH: 7 | LOW: 9 Latest result: Draw against Al Jazira 1-1Next AGL match: Away at Al Dhafra (15/10) 9 One would have expected this team to bounce back from their hard fought loss against Al Ain last week. That did not happen, in fact they dove deeper into their misery with a lacklustre performance. Were bailed out by an own goal. LAST WEEK: –HIGH: 9 | LOW: 10 Latest result: Draw against Dibba Al Fujairah 1-1Next AGL match: Away at Al Shabab (14/10) 10 The wheels are almost on the verge of coming off after a terrific performance last week. Mihai Costea had the ability to salvage a point but that point was shot way over the bar. LAST WEEK: 6HIGH: 6 | LOW: 10 Latest result: Lost against Al Shabab 1-2Next AGL match: Away at Hatta (14/10) 11 Actually created a few chances, but it always felt like they were going to lose the game. Motivation will be shot after a strong performance against Al Wahda last week but fans will need to get used to more of this. LAST WEEK: 8HIGH: 8 | LOW: 14 Latest result: Lost at Sharjah 0-4Next AGL match: Away at Al Ittihad Kalba (14/10) 12 Not sure what to make of this team. Were hyped up after a great season but have started on the wrong foot. The good news is that they have 24 games to go. LAST WEEK: 13HIGH: 12 | LOW: 13 Latest result: Draw at Baniyas 1-1Next AGL match: Home against Emirates (14/10) 13 Despair followed a moment of happiness achieved earlier in the game. There is only so much Khirbin and Diop can do. Defense was way out of shape with Waslawi’s running free at will. LAST WEEK: 11HIGH: 11 | LOW: 13 Latest result: Lost at Al Wasl 1-4Next AGL match: Home against Al Wahda (15/10) 14 Capped off a horrible night with GK Ali Saeed Saqr being sent off for stomping on Asprilla. A shocking behavior from a professional player who had his irritation take the best out of him. We will be surprised to see him on the pitch sometime soon. They eventually made up in the dressing room. On a positive, Sebastian Saez bagged two for the visitors. طرد حارس #الامارات علي صقر#دوري_الخليج_العربي pic.twitter.com/98JNaSqar3 — قناة دبي الرياضية (@dubaisportstv) September 22, 2016 LAST WEEK: 14HIGH: 14 | LOW: 14 Latest result: Lost at Al Ain 2-5Next AGL match: Away at Dibba Al Fujairah (14/10)
