Obinna Nwaneri, New Signed Up for Kelantan

Obinna Nwaneri, a former Nigerian National team defender is the latest import player for Kelantan FA. He has accepted the offer, after he witnessed a cheerful crowd of supporter in Kota Bharu on Saturday during the match against Kuala Lumpur. He was impressed by the atmosphere in Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium, Kota Bharu. The contract of Obinna Nwaneiri as import players seems promising to further strengthen the team in the Super League stage.


Obinna was born on 19th March 1982 in Lagos, Nigeria. His height is 1.83m and plays as the Centre Back Defender. Obinna started playing for Nigeria in 2004 and his last appearance for the Nigerian National team was in 2010. His first club was Enyimba Aba, Nigeria back in 2003 and had an outstanding season when he went to Esperance for 2004 and 2005. He then played for the FC Sion, Switzerland from 2006 to 2010.  his last club was Kazma SC, Kuwait.  He is described as mobile central defender with pace, control and timing.He was awarded with the captain armband in Enyimba and FC Sion respectively and earned success with those teams.

Team manager, Azman Ibrahim said the 30-year-old will replace Zakaria Charara from Lebanon to be loaned to Kuala Lumpur team to help the team. It is a one year contracts with Obinna will be expected to play for the first time this Wednesday in a friendly match against  Malayan Tiger team in Bukit Jalil Stadium, Kuala Lumpur.
Obinna has promised to use his wide experience to strengthen The Red Warriors. Obinna Nwaneri.is the Kelantan fourth import player, together with Mohamed Ghaddar (Lebanon), Denny Antwi (Ghana), and Emmanuel Okine (Ghana).
