While Sir Alex did make signings that haven't quite lived up to their expectations such as Shinji Kagawa, Phil Jones, Anderson or Bebe, the sheer number of players that have not achieved what was expected of them is far too high for the standards of the biggest club in the world. Many blame the players for not playing for the badge and/or playing for money instead, many blame the managers for not getting the best out of the players and unsuitable philosophies for Manchester United and practically everyone blames Ed Woodward and the Glazers for not bleeding Manchester Red and having a true understanding and passion for this club. Serious changes need to be made and need to be done so at all levels of this great club if they are to move forwards from this poor season and not fall even further behind those already so far ahead. 

One of which must be concerning the current crop of players at the club. While some are Manchester United players whether for next season or in the future, others have to be moved on as they either don't have the quality or don't suit the club's philosophy. Ander Herrera and Antonio Valencia have already been released with the Spaniard set to join PSG and youth players such as Regan Poole, James Wilson and Joshua Bohui have also been released. At the time of writing, Daniel James is set to sign for the club but will not be put into this chart as it is only for those already at the club. Some of the writers at The United Devils have expressed their opinions on who should stay at the club, be it as a star man, as a starter, Squad player or youth player, go out on loan to gain more experience playing first team football or to leave permanently. Manchester United has a serious deficiency when it comes to players of its quality.
In the World Class category, we have Pogba and De Gea. These two have stood out from the rest by a mile.

In the starter category, Victor Lindelof makes it by merit. The rest, you have to push them there because of the current quality in the team means that these players do stand out as the best of a bad bunch. I think Rashford is a great player but I think for his age, he is carrying the team way too much as he plays almost every game he is fit for. I might question his attitude given how well Mbappe and De Ligt, who are of a similar age to the Mancunian, are performing. I expect Ole Gunner to motivate him to perform better and fulfill his potential and I hope the same is done for Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood.

Dean Henderson is a great goalkeeper. Although I will need him to get some Premier League experience, probably at Sheffield United as the Blades love Henderson as you can see on Twitter.
I would also like to see Joel Pereira join a Premier League side on loan. In doing so, we can watch two of United's young prospect goalkeepers grow and develop, hoping to be long-term replacements for David de Gea and Sergio Romero. Imagine having a number one and back up of Henderson and Pereira that have been under our very noses and barely cost a penny!

In my opinion, everybody in the squad category and below deserves immediate selling or is not experienced enough to be in the first team yet but I know it's hard to clear out a whole squad.
I hope though that these players hear our cry and perform to their best. Otherwise, by January, I want half of those average players out. Jesse Lingard is a special case. I am torn between keeping him as an impact player with his energy and pace or just getting rid of him now and finding a suitable replacement. I think if by January he is not performing and is having a similarly poor seasonn in front of goal to last season and rarely impacting from the bench then United must sell.

Timothy Fosu-Mensah may have been the fastest player in the Premier League last season but his actual performaces and game time did not reflect this stat. The Dutch defender has been hampered by injury for the last two seasons for Crystal Palace and Fulham respectively and I think it's now time we sell him. Great player but injury prone. Not something we need at the moment when United need consistent and reliable defenders.

The phrase "world class" is thrown around very often but for me, it's more stringent. You need to ask if said player would get into a team of the year? If yes or debatable, then the player is world class. Pogba and De Gea are the only two players who'd get into these top sides. Quite a straighforward decision!

With Sanchez all but finished, Martial will have to start left wing with Daniel James or another new signings on the right. I'd keep Rashford and Lukaku and play them based on the opposite team's defence. Lukaku has had one good and bad season. The third one is his make or break season. Shaw and Lindelof had great seasons and keep their place for the coming season as well.

The squad tier is a list of decent players but not good enough to be starting week in week out for us. Some of them are exciting prospects like Tuanzebe, Greenwood, Chong, Gomes, and Lee Grant. Also, Smalling is in there only until we get a new centre back.

Demitri Mitchell has been great for his loan spell but didn't stand out unlike Axel.
Dean Henderson was amazing for Sheffield and it'll be very interesting to see how he plays against Premier League players. Based on that we can make a decision on if we should recall him.

The players to be sold are the deadwood of our club. The players who get paid millions for sitting on the bench. Selling them will free up a lot of space for potential signings and those players in the 'remove' tier need to be shipped out of the club immediately without a shred of a doubt. Jones and Young received new contracts in January and Lingard is set to get a new contract soon. If Manchester United are serious about being a big club, we just can not have players who turn up once in 2 seasons.

When we, as Manchester United fans, take a hard look at our squad, no matter what you say to everyone, all of us, deep down, know that we have a very poor group of players. If we talk of truly world class players, then only one name does justice to the tag and that is David De Gea. The Spaniard has had poor season but he is still the best keeper in the world and has carried this club on his shoulders for the past 6 years.

All of Luke Shaw, Nemanja Matic, Lukaku, McTominay, Lindelof are established members of the first team squad. I have included Paul Pogba in this list as well. Some might find it a bit controversial but here is my viewpoint: on pure ability wise, he is truly a superstar but his act of downing tools under two different managers in the same season and ghosting for the last two months of the season where United lost 10 of the 12 games played, puts huge question mark on his consistency.

I know this won't happen under Ole but I feel Rashford needs to be loaned out to improve his finishing and decision-making skills. What I feel will happen is that Lukaku might be sold and Rashford will be leading the line for us next season. Honestly speaking, if it does pan out like that, I can't see United finish in the top half of the table.

There is quite a list of players that need to be shown the door but let us be honest here, hardly more than 4 or 5 of them will leave the club this summer. The three players that almost all United fans want out are Phil Jones, Ashley Young, and Marcos Rojo but only the latter is the one most probable to leave the club. The reason is that the club had offered extended contracts to Jones and Young in the winter and the fact they are English also is a huge factor in their favor. Another player, who has been bang average but is in the team because of his place of birth is Jesse Lingard. The supposedly youth player has had 0 goals and 0 assists in the Premier League in the calendar year 2019. Again, being one of Ole's favorites saves him from getting the ax but it is really disgraceful for a United attacker with just 17 assists in whole United career was usurped by Trent Alexander Arnold with 18 assists in a single season with Liverpool last year. Along with the names already mentioned, I feel United should offload the likes of Juan Mata, Alexis Sanchez, Eric Bailly, and Andreas Pereira too. These players are bloating up the squad without providing any quality. But sadly again, there will be a huge gap in what I wish for and what really will happen in the summer.

It's clear that David de Gea believes he should earn more if he stays at Manchester United as he would be making similar amounts if he left for PSG or Real Madrid and so United should give him the money and keep this man between the United posts. Say what you want about Paul Pogba, he is a world class player and needs better players around him for him to shine. I hope he stays for at least another season and if he still doesn't show his best he should be allowed to leave the club and the same can be said for Lukaku.

Martial, Shaw and Lindelof should start every game they are fit for as they are young, talented players that could, along with Pogba and Lukaku, have a squad built around them. Rashford should alternate with Martial and Lukaku on either the left or up front but should not be called a squad player as he will play basically every game for United be it on the bench or starting.

The squad players have the potential to fill in for injured players, play in the Europa League and Cup fixtures or be rotated into the squad when the fixture list gets its heaviest. Lingard and Mata are excellent impact players when they are called upon. Timothy Fosu-Mensah is an great utility player for the club at full-back, centre back and midfield and I hope Dean Henderson plays as the Cup goalkeeper after an excellent season on loan at Sheffield United.

 Gomes, Greenwood and Chong need more time playing u23's before being regular starters, which I do expect them to be in the future. As for Joel Pereira, who is a solid goalkeeper, the young goalie should go out on loan and get more experience to see if he should be sold or kept at United, the same goes for Demitri Mitchell, who had another decent season down the left for Hearts and Cameron Borthwick-Jackson, who has failed to live up to an optimistic debut season in 2015/16.

It's clear Sanchez needs to leave as it's sadly not worked at United for the Chilean and all he is doing right now is eating up £500,000 a week which could be spent elsewhere. Matic was excellent in his first season but stuttered this season and so should leave and United should find a young, long-term solution. Smalling is not consistent enough to play anymore. Romero should leave provided Henderson is happy to be the cup-keeper for United.

Ashley Young has served the club well but should not be starting any longer and I think deep down, Solskjaer knows it too. Jones seems to be more consistent in having poor form than he does for good form and Rojo seems to always be a red card waiting to happen and both need to go as they have large contracts that could be put to better use.
