What kind of impact can James Robinson make as a freshman?

James Robinson IV is one of the most talented incoming freshman wide outs in the country.  Just by looking at him he already looks like an NFL receiver. His high school coach has joked about how physically intimidating he is. “I think he got to Lakeland when he was 24. Now he’s leaving at about 42,” said Will Bahler, Robinson’s position coach at Lakeland. The Under Armour All-American is known for his dreadlocks, gold teeth and grown-man appearance.
On Tuesday night, news broke out that Florida’s top rated 2017 signee, James Robinson IV, met his NCAA requirements for enrollment. Even though most fans found about the news on Tuesday, Gator Country had already reported it over the weekend. Nonetheless, James Robinson IV has been cleared to enroll at the University of Florida and it is time to see just how good he is. James Robinson IV was one of the top prep receivers in the country and an Under Armour All-American. Now, that he is a Gator, what kind of impact can we expected out of James Robinson IV?

JRob stands at 6’4 and weighs 200 pounds. There is not much that Robinson does not do well. He is a tough receiver to defend on deep balls and 50/50 balls as he can jump out of the gym, be physical and use his height against receivers. He is explosive when he gets the ball and he has shown the ability to get separation. He also has good speed especially for a guy with his size and strength. He is a big play waiting and has good hands. The only thing he needs to improve on is his route running. He was able to get away with it in high school due to his overwhelming talent.
Even though he is a very talent and big receiver, that doesn’t mean that he’ll start immediately. The Florida Gators are loaded at receiver with guys like Antonio Callaway, Tyrie Cleveland, Josh Hammond and others. James Robinson IV is going to have to come in the summer and learn the playbook as fast as possible if he wants to get early playing time. Talent can only take you so far and he knows that Coach Mac wants him to be on the field against Michigan in Jerry’s World.

Let’s say James Robinson IV learns the playbook and is good to go to play against the Michigan Wolverines. That means you can have Antonio Callaway, Tyrie Cleveland and James Robinson IV all on the same field. Feleipe Franks would be lucky to have all of those weapons to throw to. Believe or not if all the pieces come together, this is an offense that can really make a name for themselves and shock the world. James Robinson IV can be the final piece to Florida’s offense. It is up to him to make Gator Nation proud and to let Coach Jim McElwain know that he made the right call to fight for James Robinson IV to be a Florida Gator.
