Thank God May is Over! A Lot to Happen in the Baseball Universe

May is finally over and it’s actually good for most of the teams in the Baseball Universe. Out of all, The Chicago Cubs seem to be the happiest. The Cubs lasted 12-16 in the month losing 6 in a row. The team fell two games less than .500 and hit .217 for the month. The Cubs were swept in straight 3 series by the Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Yankees, and the Padres. No to mention The San Diego Padres marked a 3-game sweep of the Cubs with a win of 2-1 past Luis Perdomo. To be very honest, it is not only The Chicago Cubs who seem to be making merry for May is over; let’s have a look at what all happened in this controversial month.Thank God May is Over! The Contentious Month of May

Let’s start with the series of events that made the month of May full of disputes and unfavorable incidents. We are going to begin with the major ones.

Baseball 2017
  • The infamous brawl between Hunter Strickland and Bryce Harper that also comprised of names like Jeff Samardzija became one of the most important controversies in the month of May. And these were not the only names involved in the entire episode. Teammates like Mike Morse were also jolted. Eventually, Harper was sent to Alcatraz in a body bag.
  • When Toronto Blue Jays were down 8-3, Jose Bautista flipped his bat and there was a flare seen between the baseman and the Atlanta Braves. To everyone’s surprise, no punches were thrown but it took just a few seconds for the benches to get emptied. Well, the feud did not end there as Bautista was picked the next night by Braces pitcher Julio Teheran. Nothing brutal happened, but yes it got Blue Jays for a 3-run rally.
  • There was a benches-clearing episode when Don Mattingly lost his mind over Dodgers’ Corey Seager. And these were not the only ones who got involved into the scrimmage; Ross Stripling got Giancarlo Stanton, while Brett Eibner struggled with AJ Ramos. What a site it was!
  • Keeping all the brawls and fights aside, yet another shocking incident took place in the month of May. Matt Harvey was suspended by the New York Mets. Why? The reason being the pitcher failing to show up for a game and did not being able to justify for the actual reason.

These were just some of the highlights that marked the month of May to be not so delightful one. Let’s hope June brings something good in the world of Baseball.
