Blue Angels to fly over metro Detroit Labor Day weekend Perry A. Farrell/Detroit Free Press The Blue Angels will light up the sky from Saturday to Monday at Willow Run Airport in Ypsilanti. Sponsored by the Wayne County Airport Authority, the Thunder over Michigan Air Show is the world’s largest air and ground battle re-enactment. More than 250 re-enactors in authentic military uniforms create the sights, sounds and smells of warfare. Fans can get an up-close glimpse at machinery, from World War II to today’s military equipment. Tickets for the Labor Day weekend festivities are free to kids 15 and younger, $35 ahead of time and $40 at the gate. Parking is $15 if tickets are bought in advance  and $20 at the gate.
