Step 1: Create a College Board Account

Before you can register for the SAT exam, you’ll need to create a College Board account. This is your gateway to all things SAT-related. Go to the College Board website and click on the “Create Account” button. Fill in your information, and make sure to double-check for typos in your email address and other details. Once you’ve created your account, you’ll be able to access all the SAT resources you need.

Step 2: Fill Out Your Personal Information

Before proceeding, make sure to update and verify your personal information. Double-check your name, address, date of birth, and contact details to ensure they are accurate. This is crucial to prevent any issues on test day.

Step 3: Answer Some Background Questions

You’ll be asked a series of questions to provide information about your educational background, such as your high school, graduation year, and intended college major. Answer these questions rightly and honestly.

Step 4: Sign in and Start the Registration Process

Click on the button to begin the registration process. Enter your and your parent/guardian’s information and fill out all the mandatory (*) fields to complete your student profile.

Step 5: Choose Your Test Date and Location

Now, it’s time to select the date and location for your SAT exam. You’ll be presented with a list of available test dates and testing centres in your area. Choose the date that works best for you and the test centre that’s most convenient. Remember, popular dates and locations may fill up quickly, so it’s a good idea to plan ahead and register early. Here are some last-minute SAT preparation tips.

Step 6: Upload Your Photo

One of the essential steps is uploading a recent photo of yourself. This photo will be used on your admission ticket, so make sure it’s a clear and recognisable image. Follow the guidelines provided by the College Board for photo requirements.

Step 7: Select Your Test Day Device

The next step involves selecting the device that you will use on the test day to take the test. If you will be using your own device, make sure to read through the ‘Digital SAT Device Requirements’ and download the Bluebook.

You can choose from the drop down list of devices you intend to use on the test day including – Windows (laptop or tablet), Mac laptop, iPad, and Chromebook from your school. If you haven’t decided, you can select that option or in case you don’t know if you will have access to a device on the test day, there’s an option even for that!

After payment, you’ll be able to access your admission ticket. Print it out and keep it in a safe place. Your admission ticket includes essential information, such as your test date, time, and testing centre, so you’ll want to have it ready for your SAT test day.
