CONSUMER PROTECTION BILL


In order to deal with the growing concern over the safety of consumer products and services, consumer protection BILL 2015 was approved by union cabinet.


This BILL, as an apex regulatory authority with more powers to protect and enforce the rights on consumers. The BILL adds strict penalty provisions including life imprisonment in certain cases.


ADOPTION OF CHILDREN


The new simplified “GUIDELINES GOVERNING ADOPTION OF CHILDREN 2015” came into effect from 1 August 2015. The guidelines are intended to provide for more effective regulation for adoption of orphan, abandoned and surrendered children and would bring more transparency and efficiency in the adoption system.


It would become possible for prospective adoptive parents (PAPs) to track the status of their application making the entire system user friendly.


HIGHWAY PROJECTS


Projecting the country’s highway’s sector as a unique opportunity for investment, govt. has rolled out projects worth USD 93 BILLION including the UDS 45 BILLION flagship Road Building Programme NHDP.


NHDP is government’s flagship road building programme which encisages development of existing national highways (NHs) into world-class roads in different phases.
