Myanmar’s new parliament elected U Win Myint of the National League for Democracy as Speaker of the House of Representatives and U Ti Khun Myat of the Union Solidarity and Development Party as Deputy Speaker of the House. The election took place at the first session of the parliament that began a new five term from 2016. U Win Myint an NLD MP to the house of Representatives from Pathein Constituency in the last term of the parliament was re-elected to the same house from Tammwe constituency in the 2015 general election.


SongWriter-Singer Dan Hicks known for his rootsy blend of folk, jazz and country music, died in Mill Valley Calif after a two- year battle with throat and liver cancer. He was 74. Hicks was known as the leader of the acoustic band Dan Hicks and His Hot Licks which was a contemporary of the Grateful Dead And Jefferson Airplane in the late 1960s San Francisco psychedelic scene. He never achieved as much mainstream success as others from that era but he was highly regarded by fellow musicians.

PM SHEIKH MOHAMMED bin RASHID al-Maktoum named 8 women as he revealed his latest cabinet line-up of 29 ministers. CONCOR (Container corporation of india) and Cochin Port Trust have entered into a MOU for the running of weekly container train service from Irugur ICD, Coimbatore to ICTT Vallarpadam cochin port. The inaugural trip will be flagged off on 16/1/2016 at 4 PM at Irugur ICD BY SRI G SENTHIVEL, Deputy Chairman Cochin Port trust. The train from Irugur will start on all Saturdays and return from cochin on all Thursday. The trains are scheduled to connect the direct shipping services to Far East, China, Europe and Middle East.

First joint committee meeting between india and Mauritius for the cooperation in MSME sector was held successfully. The possible areas of cooperation were identified.
