a) Core tools: Core tools were made by chipping away rock potions to get a shape. They had no handles and thus of pear-shaped. They were used for cutting trees and digging the earth.

b) Flake tools: They were made by cut off from rock and then shaped into tool. These tools were used for cutting meat and to chop animals skin.

c) Blade tools: Blade tools were longer and thus used as knives, arrow heads and spears.

2. Mesolithic age is middle stone age (10,000 BC-8,000 BC). Two important changes that took place in man’s life in Mesolithic age were:

a) Better tools: In mesolithic age, man used smalller and more refined tools called as microliths. They used bone tools also. Axes now has handles and were made of stones. These tools were discovered in Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Punjab, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.

b) Domestication of animals: They began domestication of animals in this age such as domestication of dogs can be used in chasing and hunting animals.

3. The most important invention of Neolithic Age (8,000 –  3,500 BC) was that of wheel. A thick piece of wood which was in circle shaped was used as first wheel used by man. Uses of wheel are:

a) Cart can be made with two wheels that can be used to pull animals and to transport men and goods. Sledges also had been evolved into carts (that have wheels).

b) It was used in spinning.

c) It was also used in making different types of pottery.

4. Agriculture was developed in Neolithic age (8,000 –  3,500 BC).

a) It helped man in settled down at one place that was suitable for agriculture.

b) Now, they produce food at one place instead of wandering in search of food.

c) Man was no more nomadic.
