Bruckmann Daysailer 42: an old style sailboat with a modern heart

The Bruckmann Daysailer enters the design race as a confident daysailer and capable performance yacht.

A split personality, she may readily carry upwards of eight individuals for an excursion around the bay, and yet she is equally adept as an overnighter. In either instance she will be a true performer and head turner, as exhibited by her low profile, aggressive sail plan and performance-oriented shoal draft keel.

Characterized by a clean deck layout, commodious cockpit, inviting interior, and lightweight glass construction, the Bruckmann Daysailer presents her owner with an extremely versatile sailing yacht.

A spacious deck and a modern rigging

The weather deck of the Bruckmann Daysailer offers a wide, uncluttered working environment for tending to all of the vessel’s needs, even in the most adverse conditions. Only a low profile raised cabin house interrupts the spacious deck forward to accommodate guests below. The aft cockpit offers a secure vantage point from which to observe and adjust all aspects of trim and course heading with all control lines leading to two perfectly located islands athwartship from one another.

The Bruckmann Daysailer features modern rigging and deck hardware components. Manufactures such as Lewmar, Harken and Edson represent the best performance and quality available on the market today and are strategically specified throughout the deck plan.

Spars are constructed of economical aluminum with carbon fiber available as an option to achieve the maximum in strength-to-weight performance. All control lines are lead to the aft cockpit where a single driver can control all aspects of fine-tuning the sails.

The main halyard and reefing lines are located on top of the cabin house to port, and can be fitted with an electric winch if requested. A central hydraulic system located at the helm station controls the boom vang and backstay. A 100% roller-furling jib aids the guests in simplifying upwind sailing.

The smart interior design

The interior furthers the smart design features and quality components found on deck. Upon entering the cabin house, the light service galley on port provides guests with such amenities as 12VDC refrigeration, microwave, stainless steel sink and cabinetry for stowing all necessary supplies.

To starboard is a commodious head with sink and storage. Five-inch thick cushions provide comfort for-sitting or sleeping while six opening ports and two opening deck hatches allow natural lighting and abundant ventilation. A centerline table is available for interior dining. Forward of the settees are end tables and hanging lockers and the forepeak may be fitted with a V-berth if so desired.

About the construction

The E-glass and Core-Cell hull and deck are built using the highest quality stitched fabrics and vinyl-ester resins resulting in an extremely durable and light structure. The interior joiner work is comprised primarily of fine, hand-selected, gloss varnished mahogany trim over Formica laminated bulkheads and cabinetry, accented by Corian countertops and a traditional teak and holly sole. All hardware is stainless steel.
