Man City eager to land prized Arsenal defender

With the Defender position failing to show consistency this past year, Manchester City are eyeing one of the Premier League’s top right-backs to help reinforce the team. Unfortunately for Arsenal, that could prove to be a major conflict of interest.

According to the Metro via The Times, Man City have identified Hector Bellerin as one of their top targets to pull from Arsenal’s ranks. The 21-year-old defender was recently added to Spain’s Euro 2016 squad after a breakout sophomore season at the Emirates.

Bellerin was a highly-touted youth prospect at Barcelona from 2003 to 2011 – and was sold to Arsenal’s youth academy back when Pep Guardiola ran the team. He made his debut for Arsenal in the 2014-15 season and became an immediate impact player. The following season he was named to the PFA Team of the Year – the youngest defender on the list.

However, Arsenal are not likely to part with Bellerin cheaply (if at all) as he is rated one of the most expensive defenders in the world.

Per the report, Man City are also in pursuit of midfielder Jack Wilshere.
