Chelsea or Manchester United can have Mauricio Pochettino for £10m

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has a buy-out clause in his contract, according to The Sun.

The Sun reports that the Argentine agreed a £10m release fee with chairman Daniel Levy when he joined Spurs from Southampton, who received £2m in compensation, in the summer of 2014.

Tottenham may have been happy with that figure then, but Pochettino has become an indispensable figure at White Hart Lane while masterminding this season’s Premier League title charge.

The Londoners are five points behind leaders Leicester City heading into the final seven games of the campaign thanks to the young, hungry and talented squad that Pochettino has assembled and nurtured.

But this work does not seem to have gone unnoticed. The Independent claims that both Chelsea and Manchester United are interested in the 44-year-old, although he may not be their first choices.

And Tottenham are hopeful that the £10m buy-out clause will be expensive enough to dissuade any suitors while they negotiate a new contract with the South American, The Sun understands.

The Sun adds that Spurs are increasingly confident of tying Pochettino down to an extended deal this summer, which would see him earn at least a 15% pay rise on his current salary of £3.5m a year.
