Vans and Advisory Board Crystals, two California based brands centered around creativity, partner to launch series of product this fall. The collections represent the expressive creators of the counterculture movement. For Advisory Board Crystals, counterculture informs critical thought process and when oppositional forces reach critical mass, inspiring dramatic cultural changes for the better.

For Advisory Board Crystal’s first footwear collaboration with Vans, the teams focused on one of Vans’ innovative silhouettes, the EVDNT.

“The many layers and technical construction of this model allowed us utilize layering, transparency, and the various materials necessary to transform the shoe into an abstract adaptation representative of a fire opal,” the Advisory Board Crystal team shared. “The general idea is to feel the energy of what it would be to wear a fire opal on your feet. Metaphysically, this stone is an amplifier, and the fire property is said to spark personal creativity. The products we set forth are centered on supporting the bodies of the most creative minds and this shoe does just that.”

Technically speaking, the style features Abc. lace lock which turns the model of the EVDNT into a slip on style, which allow for comfort through the top of the foot. Varying suede colors, mesh tones, transparent holographics, opal patterns, and reflective properties all contribute to the footwears sculptural feeling. The matte silver components and custom Swarovski eyelets work harmoniously with the intentional chaos of a man made ‘organic’ product. Details also include signature pull tabs on the tongue and back heel as a functional way to slide the shoes on and off, capped off by the signature authenticity hologram on the back heels. You will even find custom certilogo labels on the inside of each tongue which utilize a specific serial number for each pair.
