Jordan Brand Unveils Women’s Flight Utility Apparel Capsule And New Footwear

Check it out ladies! Jordan Brand just unveiled their Women’s Flight Utility Apparel capsule inspired by the brand’s first apparel line, a collection of visionary designs that look to the future in fearless style.

A bold Flight Suit headlines a new apparel capsule collection from Jordan. The garment’s features relay a function-first approach to a common wardrobe staple, the jumpsuit, while the piece’s proportions create a streetwear edge. It signals the intent of Jordan Brand’s new women’s collection: consider a fundamental Jordan idea, flight, to deliver a selection of new everyday items specifically for women. Archetypical clothing is thus transformed through defiant attitude; the Jordan rules applied to women’s design.

“Our passionate female audience is asking us for more, and this capsule collection celebrates a higher standard, a competitive spirit and fearless mindset for anyone who has the confidence to fly higher and break boundaries,” says Andrea Perez, GM of Jordan Women’s. “Jordan Women’s grew triple digits last fiscal year and there is strong excitement from our consumers and key accounts for us to keep reaching new audiences through our Women’s footwear and apparel.”

Specifically, the new Flight Suit, along with other pieces in the capsule, takes inspiration from the Wings lines of MJ’s mid-80s flight. But the connection to the past is simply a grounding for a contemporary interplay of body-conscious layers and confident volumes. The Utility Pant and Bomber Jacket follow the same ethos, the dimensions of both balancing an overt oversizing with feminine touches, such as a high waist or a faux-fur hood.

Additionally, each piece allows for versatile fluidity in how it is styled and worn. The jacket can be reversed. The Flight Suit can be cinched at the waist or cropped at the leg — or left in a neutral state. Considered pockets alleviate the need for carrying a bag; utility more than just lip service to aesthetic precedent.

Like the volumes, the capsule’s color schemes project a future direction for Jordan Brand, eschewing traditional choices in favor of fresh neutrals (a range of greens and browns) juxtaposed with pops of electric color. This is clear in the bomber, where sparks of neon green break through a predominantly olive pattern. Simpler items — an oversized T-shirt and cropped hoodie — allow the color spectrum to pop as either direct statement or subtle accent.

All pieces in the inclusive capsule are designed to serve a range of body types, and most are also available in Asian fit and plus sizing.

The Jordan Women’s Flight Utility Apparel capsule will be available February 1 at the below retail stores and release February 14 at Jordan.com, SNKRS and select retail stores around the world.

In 1998, Jordan Brand, then in its initial season, created its first women’s Air Jordan silhouette. The shoe’s aesthetic linked with the dimpled leather of the Air Jordan XIII, while the herringbone traction signaled high-performance intent. Its inspiration came from an emerging community of professional female players — stamping both a new style on the game and spurring its growth across the world.

More than two decades later, the women’s Air Jordan returns January 16.
