Flakes: Hoops, Janovich, Helmets, Onside Kicks

Flakes reminds you the Husker women play Penn State tonight, takes a tour around several Husker sports including Andy Janovich's NFL dreams, new helmet design, and takes a closer look at the Alabama Onside Kick.

Good morning Corn Nation! I am excited to report that Nebraska is supposed to emerge from the deep freeze and get into warm-ish temperatures (for January anyway) today. I am not sure how to celebrate yet. Maybe I will go for a run.

That will end in me dragging my sorry, out-of-shape carcass back to the house by crawling in the half-melted snow. Maybe I will harness the dog to one of the kids' sleds...just in case.

Tonight, the Husker women take on Penn State at 6 p.m. in University Park, PA. The Huskers are 10-5 overall and 1-3 in the conference. The Lady Lions are 6-9 overall and 1-3 in the conference. While this looks like a game Nebraska should win, Penn State's lone conference victory came over ranked Northwestern (a team that hammered the Huskers by over 20). Nebraska has yet to win a road game, although to be fair, this will be the first unranked opponent the Huskers play on the road.

Instant classic: Alabama-Clemson crash-lands into top 10 title games ever
It wasn't quite Texas-USC in the 2006 Rose Bowl, but Clemson-Alabama is in the conversation for best title game ever. What other classics rank among history's top 10 championship battles?

After a big breakout year by Big Ten baseball teams in 2015, they were rewarded by being completely shut out of the 2016 preseason top 25. To be fair, Maryland might be the only team with a real gripe. The rest of the B1G has a lot to prove, like playing well year after year rather than being a one-hit wonder.
