How is the conference doing thus far after two weeks of the season in the books? Let’s take a look at how the standings are shaking out.
Two weeks have gone by already in the women’s basketball season. Let’s see how the conference is faring!
(All AP rankings listed based on previous week, not on updated poll results coming out/that have come out today on the date of publication.)
#8 Maryland Terrapins 3-1
Game 1
The Terps entered the season ranked #4 and certainly looked the part in a 119-56 stomping of the Wagner Seahawks. Maryland out-scored Wagner by 23 in the first quarter, 28 in the second, and 11 in the fourth. only the one point margin in the third looked competitive in the box score. The Terp women shot 48% from three, racked up 30 assists, 43 Rebounds, and 19 steals. Shakira Austin led Maryland with a double-double, scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds, while Kaila Charles and Ashley Owusu both scored 18 as well.
Game 2
Maryland hosted the then 8th ranked South Carolina Gamecocks in College Park for their second game. While the Terps were only down 18-15 at the end of the first quarter, a bad second quarter let the game slip away as they were out-scored 16-9. As the final buzzer sounded, Maryland faced their first loss of the season, 63-54. They got beat big time on the boards, 54-38, and shot an abysmal 12.5% from three-point range. Ashley Owusu led the Terps with 17 points.
Game 3
The Terp women rebounded in their first road game of the season, squeaking out a two point win on the other side of the Potomac at James Madison, 70-68. Three-point shooting rebounded for the Terps, shooting 37.5% from deep. However, free throw shooting was only 44.4% in this one. Kaila Charles hauled in 10 rebounds and Shakira Austin led in scoring with 20. Austin’s scoring was the same as the Terps turnover total, 20!
Game 4
Delaware came to town Sunday, and left with a loss at the hands of Maryland, 99-55. Five players scored in double digits, with Taylor Mikesell leading the Terps with 23 points.

Maryland hosts George Washington University Wednesday night at 7 pm et and Quinnipiac Sunday at 12 pm et.
#16 Michigan State Spartans 3-0
Game 1
Michigan State opened the season with a blowout home win over the Eastern Michigan Eagles, 85-50. The Spartans had 16 assists, shot 40.7% from three, and won the rebound battle by a margin of 11. Nia Cloud led the Spartans with 23 points.
Game 2
MSU followed up on their blowout of in-state Eastern MI with an even bigger beat down of the Detroit Mercy Titans, 110-52. Every team member for MSU got at least 6 minutes of game time and got at least 2 points in this one. Michigan State had 28 assists and out-rebounded Detroit 52-25. Freshman Alyza Winston led the Spartans with 17 points.
Game 3
The Spartans rolled into South Bend to take on the #15 ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and came out swinging. It was 17-10 MSU at the end of the first quarter, and Michigan State never gave up the lead. Despite 20 turnovers, MSU pulled off the upset road win. Nia Clouden led the Spartans with 28 points.

The Spartan women host the Oakland Golden Grizzlies Tuesday night at 7 pm et, and the Hartford Hawks Sunday at 2 pm et.
#21 Indiana Hoosiers 3-0
Game 1
Indiana opened their season with a win over Mt. St. Mary’s, 72-52. The Hoosiers outrebounded the Mountaineers 42-25, but coughed the ball up 18 times. Grace Berger led the Hoosiers with 24 points and 7 rebounds.
Game 2
Following their 20 point win, Indiana decided that margin wasn’t good enough and lit up the Nicholls Lady Colonels 111-47. Everyone on the team for Indiana played at least five minutes and scored at least two points. Mackenzie Holmes led the Hoosiers with 22 points, and four others scored in double-digits.
Game 3
Indiana got the win Sunday over Jacksonville St. in Bloomington, 91-51. Everyone for the Hoosiers scored in this one, with five players hitting double digits. They shared the ball well, too, with twenty assists. Mackenzie Holmes again led the Hoosiers with 15 points.
Week Ahead
The Hoosiers travel to Gainesville, FL to take on the Florida Gators at 6 pm ET on Friday night.
#24 Michigan Wolverines 4-0
Game 1
Sadly, Michigan started their season with a win over Western Michigan, 76-55. Kayla Robbins led the yellow rodents with 17 points and Amy Dilk got a double-double with 11 rebounds and 12 points.
Game 2
More sadly, the yellow rodents from that awful city down I-96 won their second game of the season too, 77-57 over the Bradley Braves. Naz Hillmon paced the Wolverines with a double-double, scoring 16 points and pulling down 12 boards, including 8 offensive.
Game 3
It’s just getting depressing now, as Michigan won their third game of the season over the Kent Sate Golden Flashes 88-53. Akienreh Johnson led that awful school with 21 points.
Game 4
The Wolverines escaped a road trip to the Akron Zips with an 80-71 win. The Zips kept it close, briefly taking a lead late in the 3rd and carrying over for a brief start of the 4th. Naz Hillmon led the rodents with 28 points.

That team down I-96 hosts Notre Dame on Saturday at 1 pm et.
Rutgers Scarlet Knights 4-0
Game 1
Rutgers picked up a road win at South Alabama to start their season, 77-56. The Jaguars kept it competitive on the boards, 42-43, but it didn’t matter on the score boad. Arella Guirantes paced the Scarlet Knights with 27 points.
Game 2
Rutgers won their home season opener in a brutal blow-out, 107-33 over the Coppin State Lady Eagles. Rutgers out-rebounded them 52-29, had 22 assists, and 18 steals! Tekia Mack led Rutgers in scoring with 21 points.
Game 3
Another home game, another blow-out by the Rutgers women, 87-37, over the Niagara Purple Eagles. Arella Guirantes was the leading scorere again with 24 points, while Mael Gilles hauled in a double-double with 16 rebounds and ten points.
Game 4
Harvard made the trip to New Jersey, and left with a blowout loss, 74-46. While the Scarlet Knights only shot 19% from three, they had three players get double-doubles. Arella Guirantes paced the team with 19 points and 11 rebounds, Jordan Wallace scored 14 and brought in 10 rebounds, and Tekia Mack scored 10 points and had 10 rebounds.

The Scarlet Knights travel to Baton Rouge to play at LSU Sunday at 8 pm et.
Northwestern Wildcats 4-0
Game 1
NU beat the Lewis Flyers 89-34 to start the season. The Wildcats grabbed 48 boards, had 21 assists, and 16 steals against the Flyers. Four players scored in double digits; with Lindsey Pulliam, Sydney Wood, and Byrdy Galernik all pacing the Wildcats with 15 points apiece.
Game 2
Northwestern hosted Loyola Maryland and got a blowout win, 67-46. Lindsey Pulliam led the Wildcats with 25 points.
Game 3
NU made the trip up I-94 to play at the Marquette Golden Eagles, and left with a 64-46 win. The Wildcats won the turnover battle, 16-24, but lost the rebound battle 38-37. Lindsey Pulliam yet again led the Wildcats with 18 points.
Game 4
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA take that you stinking Blue Devils!!! Northwestern traveled to Durham and defeated Duke 63-42. Surprise, surprise, Lindsey Pulliam led the Wildcats with 26 points.

Northwestern hosts Valparaiso on Thursday at 8 pm et on BTN+.
Illinois Fighting Illini 3-1
Game 1
Illinois won their season opener at home over the Chicago State Cougars 96-66. The Illini out-rebounded the Cougars 48-39, had 14 steals, and shared the ball to the tune of 21 assists. Petra Holesinska led the Illini with 29 points, and Kennedi Myles got a double-double with 17 points and 15 boards.
Game 2
The Illini struggled in their second game, having to get the win over the Holy Cross Crusaders 78-75 in over-time. Ali Andres led Illinois in scoring with 20 points, and earned a double-double with her 11 rebounds.
Game 3
The Austin Peay Governors made it a little exciting late in the second quarter through the end of the third, but Illinois eventually pulled away for a 76-62 win. Petra Holesinska led Illinois in scoring with 19 points.
Game 4
The Illini dropped their first game of the season to Illinois State, and it wasn’t a close one, 74-58. The stats were even worse than the score. Illinois lost the rebound battle 40-17, committed 14 turnovers, and shot a paltry 25% from three and 37% from three. Petra Holesinska once again led the Illini with 16 points.

Illinois hosts Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Thursday night, 8 pm et, and Bryant on Sunday at 3 pm et.
Nebraska Cornhuskers 3-0

Purdue Boilermakers 3-0
Game 1
The Boilermakers won their season opener over the Milwaukee Panthers 68-55. Purdue committed 16 turnovers, but had 18 assists. Dominique Oden led the team with 16 points.
Game 2
Purdue got a blowout win on the road in their second game of the season over the Chattanooga Lady Mocs, 66-34. Shooting 33.3% from deep and 52.7% from field goal range certainly helped, as did 19 assists. However, 17 turnovers did not, and they lost the rebound battle 40-39. Ae’Rianna Harris led the team with 16 points.
Game 3
The Boilermakers hosted the Western Illinois Leathernecks and got the W, 66-59. Cold shooting by Purdue in this one, going 2-11 from three and only 40% from field goal range. Dominique Oden led the team again with 16 points. Over/under in the comments on how many times the leading scorer for Purdue this season will score 16?

Purdue hosts Northern Illinois on Sunday at 2 pm et on BTN+.
Minnesota Golden Gophers 3-1
Game 1
Minnesota had a less than ideal start to their season, dropping the opener 77-69 to Missouri State. 19 turnovers didn’t help, and despite shooting 61% on 18 attempts from three-point range, Minnesota didn’t have enough to get the win. Destiny Pitts’ 18 points led the Gophers in scoring.
Game 2
Minnesota bounced back in game two with a 90-58 win over Vermont. Jasmine Powell led the team with 19 points.
Game 3
Minnesota got the win over Milwaukee, 77-61. Taiye Bello led the team with her double-double, getting team highs 11 boards and 18 points.
Game 4
The Gophers got the win in the Barn Sunday over Arizona State, 80-66. Destiny Pitts led the team with 22 points.
Week Ahead
Goldie hosts Montana State on Saturday at 3 pm ET tip on BTN+.
Wisconsin Badgers 3-1
Game 1
The Badgers opened their season with a home win over Norther Florida, 75-62. They won the battle at the boards by a wide margin of 52-38. Kendra Van Leeuwen and Julie Pospisilova led in scoring with 14 points each.
Game 2
Wisconsin downed Wofford 78-65 at home for their second game of the season. Imani Lewis got the double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds, while Suzanne Gilreath led the team in scoring with 21 points.
Game 3
Similar to a football team near and dear to our hears, the Wisconsin Badgers traveled to Boulder for an early season match-up and came away with the loss, 74-57. Colorado schooled the Badgers at the boards with their 44 rebounds to Wisconsin’s 29. Imani Lewis and Abby Laszewski led with 19 points apiece.
Game 4
The Badgers bounced back from their loss with a 71-40 beating of Milwaukee. Imani Lewis led in scoring with 19 points.

Wisconsin is off this week.
Penn State Lady Lions 2-2
Game 1
Penn State opened their season with a close win over Towson, 73-67. The Lady lions only shot 20% from three point range and 33.3% from field goal. They also turned the ball over 21 times and narrowly lost the boards battle 46-45. Alisia Smith got a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds, while Siyeh Frazier and Makenna Marisa each scored 15 points apiece to lead the team.
Game 2
Rider came to Happy Valley and left happy they got the win, 78-70. Yet again, Siyeh Frazier and Makenna Marisa each scored 15 points apiece to lead the team.
Game 3
The Lady Lions beat Fordham at home in their third game of the season, 72-59. And boy were they hot from three, shooting 50% from deep making 7 of 14 attempts. Siyeh Frazier got a double-double with 10 rebounds and a team-high 19 points.
Game 4
la Salle got the win over Penn State in Happy Valley yesterday, 69-67. 20 turnovers, getting out-rebounded 43-38, and shooting a paltry 10% (2 of 20) from three-point range will get you the big, fat L if your opponent is shooting 44% from deep most days. That’s what happened for the Lady Lions in this case. Kamaria McDaniel led the team with 25 points.

The Lady Lions host Clemson Thursday night at 7 pm et on BTN+, and George Mason on Sunday at 2 pm et on BTN+.
Iowa Hawkeyes 2-1
Game 1
Iowa opened their season with a win over Florida Atlantic 85-53. Mckenna Warnock just made the double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Kathleen Doyle led in points with 15.
Game 2
The Hawkeyes got a narrow home 86-81 win over North Alabama. Megan Meyer led the team with 21 points, while Kathleen Doyle added 20.
Game 3
Iowa took to the road for game three and got squashed by Northern Iowa 88-66. The Hawkeyes were cold from field goal range, only shooting 35% in this one. Makenzie Meyer led the team with 14 points.

Iowa hosts Princeton Wednesday night at 7:30 pm et on BTN+.
Ohio State Buckeyes 2-1
Game 1
The Buckeyes got a blowout win to start their season, drubbing Valparaiso 89-38. That score remind you of their football team?
Dorka Juhasz led the team with 16 points.
Game 2
tOSU beat Cincinnati 78-73 in overtime. Braxtin Miller (hmm, that seems like a familiar-ish name to anyone else related to Ohio State?) led the team with 18 points.
Game 3
The Buckeyes lost at home to the well known MAC school Ohio University 74-68. Despite winning the rebound battle 50-49, tOSU did lose the turnover margin 20-14. Aixa Wone Aranaz and Kierstan Bell led the Buckeyes with 12 points each.
Week Ahead
tOSU travels to Kent State on Thursday for a 7:30 pm et tip-off. They host U-Conn on Sunday at 3 pm et on BTN+.
