Frosty Flakes: Adrian Martinez Compared To Nebraska Quarterbacks Historically And Why You Need to Follow Basketball

That’s a long headline, isn’t it?

Tuesday I talked about Adrian Martinez’ quarterback rating throughout the Illinois game. I mentioned that he was playing at a historically good level, given Nebraska quarterbacks throughout the years.

Our stats guy, Paul, was kind enough to go back and compile quarterback ratings for Nebraska signal-callers back to Turner Gill in 1982. Here’s the table:

Note that these are compiled on a season-by-season basis, not over the course of a quarterback’s career. That’s what we’re comparing here.

I’m not going to say a whole lot about this... other than to remember that the quarterback rating is about passing, not about dual-threat quarterbacks.

Still... man... he’s just a freshman.

Basketball

Y’all need to start coming ‘round for the basketball team. Why? BECAUSE THEY’RE FUN TO WATCH THAT’S WHY.

AND BECAUSE NEBRASKA’S Football SEASON ENDS IN A LITTLE MORE THAN A WEEK AND THEN WHAT YOU GOING TO DO?

The Weather

Hey, look at the weather report regarding snowfall for Saturday!!!!

Woohoooo! Think we’ll still be throwing the ball in cold November in the wind with the snow?

Of course we will. We will throw the ball, wing-zing that sumbitch all over the place. Good lord, have you not been paying attention?

Why isn’t Noah Fant playing? Why isn’t Noah Fant getting the ball? Why is Noah Fant slacking when he’s on the field? Why can’t Iowa run the football? Why can’t Noah Fant run block better? Why is T.J. Hockenson absent in the second half? Why doesn’t Brian run more 12-personnel? Why did Iowa even visit with the Patriots and Georgia? Why doesn’t Brian tell his dad he’s the captain now? Longest bowl game streaks: Are FSU, Virginia Tech doomed? | SI.com

In one corner, there's a blindsided and depleted Seminoles squad under first-year head coach and Florida native Willie Taggart. Disaster. Fiasco. Catastrophe. Debacle. Tragedy. Farce. Embarrassment.

Have you watched FSU play this season? They are a truly lost team. They are in disarray, and unlike Nebraska, have not improved throughout this season. It will be interesting to see what happens with Taggart, because it’s as if he hasn’t gained the trust of his players and hasn’t made a single bit of improvement this season.

Will he be fired after a single year?

Louisville coaching candidates: Jeff Brohm, Charlie Strong lead list of Bobby Petrino replacements - CBSSports.com

We told you it was almost inevitable that Bobby Petrino would get fired. Now that it's happened, the next question: How good a job is Louisville? The program has cratered so quickly from Lamar Jackson that it's hard to tell. The saving grace may be that aside from Clemson this season, there isn't much depth in the ACC.

I have no idea why someone would consider this a really good job other than Louisville’s propensity to throw money at the situation.
