We want to send our Keep Choppin’ Wood newsletter to more Jaguars fans but it costs money! (Who knew?)

We’ve got emails hitting over 10,000 inboxes every week and we could add 5,000 more tomorrow with our current backlog of people who want to sign up — if you or your organization wants to sponsor our email newsletter hit me up at @ryaneatscake or email us at [email protected].

Happy Monday, everyone! The Super Bowl is finished and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are world champions. Tom Brady has his seventh ring. I’m sick about it.

Here’s all the Jacksonville Jaguars news that’s fit to print... or find from around the Internet — we’ve got Super Bowl players the team could target in free agency, Tony Boselli’s snub, and more.

Buccaneers players the Jaguars could sign in free agency

While the Jaguars are projected to have $73 million in cap room, the Buccaneers will have $24 million and may need to cut a few players if they want to have enough wiggle room to make meaningful moves this offseason. Tom Brady may want a raise and tight end Rob Gronkowski is set to become hit the open market.

Lavonte David and Shaquil Barrett, two of Tampa Bay’s most important defensive players, are also scheduled to become free agents. Even though it’s not feasible to re-sign all of them, the Buccaneers will need as much cap room as they can get to keep one or two of them.

That’s why they may end up releasing these two players.

Chiefs players the Jaguars could sign in free agency

The Chiefs have one of the most talented rosters in the NFL but may not be able to keep it together in the offseason. They are currently $19 million over the cap and will need to restructure a few contracts and release some players in order to get out of the red.

These two could get the pink slip soon.

Tony Boselli snubbed for Hall of Fame... again

Tony Boselli is still waiting on his call from the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

The first draft pick in Jaguars history, Boselli’s fifth time as a finalist for Canton ended with no golden ticket as the wait stretches into 2022.

While next year could be Boselli’s year, a new presenter could make a big difference to voters.

Would Telvin Smith coming back make sense for the Jaguars?

The Jacksonville Jaguars have started the process of revamping the team after finishing 1-15 in 2020. A familiar face may be willing to return to the team and help the rebuilding effort, as it seems like former linebacker Telvin Smith is ready to resume playing after hanging up the cleats in 2019.

Smith recently posted a message on social media. It simply stated, “I think it’s time.”

Would a Telvin Smith reunion with the Jaguars make sense?

BCC Q&A: How much is Gardner Minshew worth in a trade?

In our most recent Q&A article, we talked about Jalen Ramsey, Deshaun Watson, potential free agent targets, Gardner Minshew’s trade value, and more.

Check it out here!

What is the most underrated need on offense for the Jaguars?

The Jaguars have a lot of holes to fill on both sides of the ball.

Quarterback is (obviously) the most urgent — this is a team that has gone the better part of two decades without a franchise quarterback, although David Garrard did fill the role well during the mid-2000’s. But since he’s retired it has been a revolving door of underwhelming play and embarrassing draft busts.

But we’re talking underrated and quarterback is seen as a need by... well... pretty much everyone. Trevor Lawrence has been the No. 1 overall pick for months and nothing about the Jaguars finishing with the top pick in the NFL Draft has changed that.

No, friends, we’re talking about tight end.

Tracking Urban Meyer’s hires so far, which assistants will join his staff?

New Jaguars head coach Urban Meyer has already been on the job for over two weeks, using much of that time putting together his first NFL coaching staff.

The Jaguars have yet to make any official announcements on hirings related to Meyer’s coaching staff, but there have been numerous reports about the coaches who are slated to join Meyer in Jacksonville in 2021.

Here, we try to update the latest news for each role.
