Following the Los Angeles Rams’ playoff loss to the Green Bay Packers, the Jaguars have locked in the 25th pick of the 2021 NFL Draft — one of Jacksonvilles two first-round selections.

By now, we all know that the Jacksonville Jaguars will pick first in the 2021 NFL Draft, but the Jaguars actually have two first-round selections, and the team’s second pick has now been locked in. In addition to the No. 1 overall pick, Jacksonville will also pick 25th overall.

The Los Angeles Rams were defeated by the Green Bay Packers in the Divisional Round of the NFL playoffs on Saturday, and the Jaguars own the Rams’ 2021 first-round pick. When Jacksonville traded cornerback Jalen Ramsey to LA in 2019, the Jaguars received two first-round picks (2020 and 2021) and a fourth-round pick (2021) in return.

The Rams had the worst remaining record (10-6) in the playoffs, which now assures pick No. 25 goes to the Jaguars.

While many believe the Jaguars will select Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence with the first overall pick, as the team obviously should, there are a variety of ways Jacksonville could decide to go with the 25th pick. Options include defensive line, cornerback, tight end, offensive line (especially if the Jaguars opt not to re-sign left tackle Cam Robinson) or even wide receiver in an effort to get Lawrence (or whoever is playing quarterback) as many weapons as possible.

However, it is way too early to speculate on where the team may go with its second first-round selection, as Jacksonville will also look to fill some of the aforementioned holes and add depth to various positions via free agency or perhaps even through offseason trades.
