The Jacksonville Jaguars and Washington Redskins meet in the home finale for the 2018 Jaguars. Follow along all day for coverage and our live commentary before and during the game. Feel free to leave commentary, and stay with us following the game for post-game recaps.

The 4-9 Jacksonville Jaguars lower the curtains to their 2018 home schedule, much to the delight of the fans who have had to endure three months of absolute disappointment, as they face the floundering 6-7 Washington Redskins.

Follow along with us as we bring you live coverage of the game and all the post-game thoughts following today’s match up.

Live blog:

3:55 PM: The Redskins use Adrian Peterson to gash the Jaguars and get into range for Hopkins to end the game with a winning field goal. Redskins win, 16-13. Good night.

3:43 PM: Kessler has a high throw deflect off the hands of Westbrook and into the arms of a Washington defensive back inside Jags territory with 2:35 left in the game. The Jaguars had been driving and appeared to have a first down inside the red zone, but Donte Moncrief was called for offensive pass interference, setting up the 3rd & long and the resulting interception. Washington takes over around the Jaguars 40, in position to drive to potentially win the game. Unbelievable.

3:33 PM: The Redskins convert on 3rd and 15 as Jamison Crowder tips a throw away pass in the air and collects the ricochet into his arms for a big gain. This sets up the Redskins to move into the red zone and capitalize with a pass from Johnson to someone named Jeremy Sprinkle, for the tying touchdown. Hopkins kick is good, and we are knotted at 13-13. 5$7 left in the game.

3:23 PM: Thanks to Kessler’s legs and some decent running from Dave Williams, the Jaguars move into Washington territory and get enough for another Forbath field goal, to make it 13-6 Jaguars, with 11:15 left in the game. One thing to note, Leonard Fournette has been on the sideline for the entire second half. That’s something that is undoubtedly going to get talked about this week.

3:13 PM: We’ve reached the end of the third quarter with the Jaguars ahead, 10-6, and driving the ball.

3:08 PM: Another nothing burger from the offensive side of the ball for either team today, as it’s the Redskins turn to have their quarterback try to run around to gain any yardage before succeeding the ball away. Washington downs the ball inside the Jags 10. There was more offense when Washington crossed the Delaware.

2:57 PM: The Jaguars can do nothing with the ball on their own, as Washington wraps up the drive with another sacks of Kessler, by Kerrigan. That’s the Redskins fifth sack on the day. The combination of a pre-season offensive line and Kessler has made for unwatchable football.

2:51 PM: The Redskins, aided by a couple of debatable calls against the Jaguars secondary, march down the field before stalling out around the Jaguars 28 yard line. Hopkins field goal try is good and the lead is cut to 10-6, Jaguars leading with around 8 minutes left in the third quarter.

2:39 PM: Washington opens the second half at their 25 yard line.

2:23 PM: TOUCHDOWN! For some reason the Redskins tried to do anything other than kneel and the Jaguars used their times out to stop the clock, leading to a Washington punt that was returned by Dede Westbrook for a 74-yard touchdown. The kick from Forbath is good, and the Jags go into the half leading 10-3. Hooray, I guess.

2:18 PM: Well of course they run a dumb play to get out of bounds on 3rd down to stop the clock. Luckily, Logan Cooke blasts the punt 70 yards and it’s muffed and nearly recovered by Quenton Meeks to put the Redskins back around their own 20. Less than a minute left in the half.

2:14 PM: Jarrod Wilson makes a fantastic diving break up of a deep pass to tight end Vernon Davis, to save what would’ve been a big gain at the least if not a score for Washington on 3rd down. The punt is downed at the Jaguars 1 yard line, however, and the Jags are likely to try and run the clock to the half tied at 3.

2:05 PM: After Cody Kessler has to basically run for his life to get the offense into field goal range, newly signed Kai Forbath kicks it through from 33 yards out, and we are tied at 3-3 as we near the two minute warning.

1:55 PM: After another three and out for the God knows how many times today, Lerentee McCray partially blocks the punt and the Jaguars will take over inside Washington territory for the first time today, starting at around the D.C. 40 yard line.

1:48 PM: On third and long, safety Ha-Ha Clinton-Dix breaks up a pass intended for Donte Moncrief, and the Jags quickly punt it back. Moncrief was open for a brief time, but Kessler was late on the throw. Logan Cooke’s punt pins D.C. down inside the 10 yard line.

1:43 PM: Jacksonville’s defense answers as Washington cannot do much of anything with their next possession. Josh Johnson appeared to have converted a 3rd and 13 play with a twenty yard scramble, but it was called back due to holding on former Jaguar Luke Bowanko. Westbrook gets a nice return on the punt to around the Jags 30 yard line as we are midway through the second quarter. Still 3-0, Washington.

1:37 PM: Stop me if you heard this before, but the Jaguars offense goes three and out, as Kessler is sacked for the third or fourth time in the first quarter. (I lost count, to be honest) Jags punt and Washington takes over at their 35.

1:29 PM: After getting into Jaguars territory, the Redskins offense stalls out thanks mostly to an offensive pass interference call as the receiver clearly brushed back AJ Bouye on what would have been a 17 yard completion to the Jags 10 yard line. The result is a Dustin Hopkins field goal, and Washington takes the lead, 3-0, with 1:50 left in the first quarter. It may be all they need today.

1:17 PM: Kessler manages to get the offense out of the shadow of their own end zone, with a conversion to Dede Westbrook, but quickly the Jaguars have to kick it back as Jonathan Allen sacks Kessler on a 3rd & 6. Washington takes over at around their 35 yard line. This is going as expected thus far, for both teams.

1:11 PM: The Jaguars defense answers with a three and out, that finished with Calais Campbell’s eighth sack of the season. The Redskins pin the Jags offense inside their own 5 yard line though with an excellent punt. On that drive, safety Ronnie Harrison was hurt with a knee injury, replaced by Jarrod Wilson.

1:09 PM: An interesting tidbit from the kick off..

1:06 PM: Cody Kessler is sacked by Ryan Kerrigan and loses the football, which is recovered by a Redskins defender. They will review the play, but the ball is clearly out on review. The Redskins take over around midfield. It’s been five minutes.

1:04 PM: Tommy Bohannon takes the short kick out to the Jags 40 to start out.

1:02 PM: The Redskins won the toss and deferred, the Jaguars will open on offense. Here we go!

12:34 PM: Some line up changes to be aware of, as we approach kick off. Josh Wells starts at right tackle, the aforementioned Forbath is today’s kicker, and Nick DeLuca starts at the strong-side linebacker spot in place of recently IR’d Leon Jacobs.

11:41 AM: The inactives are out and as expected, the Jaguars will be without kicker Josh Lambo and right tackle Jeremy Parnell. Newly signed kicker Kai Forbath will get the gig today. Also of note, running back Carlos Hyde is a healthy scratch. I can’t imagine he stays with the team after blowing a fifth round pick in October in a panic move by the front office that hasn’t panned out.

11:36 AM: Good morning, and welcome to the live blog as we get the tremendous quarterback duel of Cody Kessler and Josh Johnson. God help us. The Jaguars inactives are coming in, and we’ll have them posted shortly. The team made news Friday, releasing safety Barry Church and tight end Niles Paul. The 2019 off-season has already begun.
