Top 25 Jacksonville Jaguars plays of 2016: Telvin Smith’s interception vs. Colts

In at No. 16 is Telvin Smith and a heck of an interception against the Indianapolis Colts in the 2016 season finale.

Telvin Smith started 16 games for the first time in his career in 2016 and turned in a performance worthy of a second contract from the Jacksonville Jaguars — 118 tackles, eight passes defended, 1.0 sacks, and two interceptions.

Heading into the season, everyone knew at how well he defended the run and was able to shoot gaps with ease (totaling 22 tackles for loss in 2014 and 2015, and adding 14 this year), but he significantly improved on his ability to defend the pass, as seen by his two interceptions and eight defended passes.

But this, his second of two interceptions on the season, shows off his ability to close on the ball when needed. Unlike his first interception, which was a very badly thrown ball by Brock Osweiler in Week 15, this was a tough play for Smith to make and it’s worthy of being a little higher on the top-25 list.
