They may have been known as the 'Blues' since Welsh rugby was regionalised back in 2003, but there has been something a little soul-less about Welsh regional rugby over the intervening years, not helped by the silly monikers adopted by its teams.
By dropping the branding and reverting both to their customary name and historical colours of blue and black, Cardiff will be hoping to be able to re-connect with their traditional audience and make the most of the brand made famous by the likes of Gareth Edwards and Barry John.
