It was a very tough week, as I have dealt with losing a client and friend in Dan Fegan. Interestingly, although I have covered the sports agent industry and served as legal counsel for many in the space over many years, I only first started speaking with and assisting Fegan in the past year. Previously, I had written about him, but found that he was somewhat reclusive; he never wanted to comment on a story. I had heard numerous rumors about him . . . that he was incredibly smart but extremely difficult to deal with. The rumors were true! But I grew to truly enjoy Dan and our daily calls, always on his schedule. I’ll miss him calling me at the most inopportune times to discuss strategy for the myriad issues were were handling on his behalf. My heart goes out to his family and especially his young son who was in the car when Dan passed away.

Anyhow, I’m in New York today and speaking at the Fordham Sports Law Symposium as well as judging the school’s basketball negotiation competition. If you’re around, then say hi!
