Hyundai Applies to Trademark "N74" Name

Hyundai’s EVs are some of the most strikingly styled vehicles around, but its N Vision 74 concept car previewed a future with even wilder designs. We’re now learning that the car may make it to production, as a recent Patent Application suggests the automaker might actually build and sell it.

Users on the 7thMustang forum found the patent application, noting that it was for “Hyundai N74.” While that could mean any number of things, there haven’t been any other concepts or models wearing that name in recent years. Company executives have openly said they believe the car should be made and sold, so it might not be long before we find out.

In the meantime, Hyundai’s Ioniq5 EV is getting an N performance variant with meaningful upgrades over the standard model and enough of a difference between it and the Kia EV6 GT to stand out. The car promises 601 horsepower and a boost to 641 ponies for short periods. Its all-wheel drive powertrain will offer a drift mode and other go-fast features.

If Hyundai builds the N74 and gives it anywhere near the power and performance of the Ioniq5 N, the car would likely be a massive hit. Electric vehicles don’t have the internal combustion sounds, but their torque and power make them just as – if not more – exciting to drive.
