Alfa Romeo's Next Supercar Debuting in August

Alfa Romeo Confirmed that its next halo model will debut at the end of August. CEO Jean-Philippe Imparato confirmed the debut during a Chinese event for the updated Giulia and Stelvio.

"This project is a dream come true, inspired by a daring team that wanted to achieve something unique,” said the executive.

The car in question is presumed to be called the 6C and serves as the successor to the 4C and 8C Competizione. As both models' names denoted how many cylinders they possessed, it’s assumed that the 6C will utilize the 2.9-liter V6 already found in other Alfa products. Based on the motor’s history, it should be good for a minimum of 500 horsepower configured for the brand’s forthcoming supercar.

While the dominant opinion is that the model will be a modestly-sized performance coupe, the manufacturer has confirmed nothing — leaving us to speculate. But the 4C and 8C were intended to be modernized versions of the brand’s sleekest designs from the post-war period. Assuming the 6C moniker sticks, it’s likely that the car inquisition will be an evolution of that concept.

Rumors have suggested that the vehicle will take some design cues from the 33 Stradale, which is one of the best-looking vehicles ever produced. But nobody has confirmed anything but the overwhelming desire to produce a handsome product.

"We are working on something that I could put aside the 8C in the museum of Arese, being proud of our contribution to the history of Alfa Romeo,” explained Imparato. “That is what we want.”

The CEO released a teaser image on this Twitter account. However, it doesn’t give much away. The only other thing we know for certain is that the car should boast round taillamps.

Will the 6C just be a production version of the Giulia Quadrifoglio Zagato or is the brand hoping to revive the Stradale? There’s plenty of speculation. But we’re not likely to get any answers before August 30th, when Alfa Romeo unveils the new model at its own museum in Arese, Italy.
