Winning the treble: Surprising stat of Lionel Messi is excellent news for Barcelona

As captain of the Barcelona team, Lionel Mesis presented their Spanish Super Cup to the fans at the Camp Nou on Saturday.

The Catalans are looking forward to a successful season and made a great start with that fine 3-0 win over Alaves.

Lionel Messi cracked the game open with an intelligent free-kick in the 64th minute of the game.

Leo would grabbed his double just before the final final after showing good control and balance to bring down a Luis Suarez lobbed cross into the box.

Interestingly, if the stats are anything to go by, Messi’s goals means Barcelona would have a very successful season.

Whenever Messi has scored the first goal for Barcelona in any season, the team has gone on to win the treble or double.

It all began in Pep Guardiola’s first season (2008/2009) with Barcelona, when Messi opened their campaign in a 1-1 draw against Racing Santander. The Catalans went on to win the treble.

And in the 2014-15 season, Messi scored against Elche (3-0) and Luis Enrique’s team won another treble.

Messi is just getting started and has no plans of putting the brakes to his magical displays.
