Very bold: Yerry Mina reveals his bet with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez

Yerry Mina didn’t quite expect the amount of bench time he was going to get at Barcelona when he decided to join them midway through the 2017-2018 season.

Barcelona had pushed forward his arrival from Palmeiras, and things just didn’t work out for him on the field when Ernesto Valverde gave him a chance to shine.

But the center-back saw a massive change in fortunes with a fantastic World Cup tournament.

Mina left Russia with three goals and some of them were really important for Colombia as they reached the last 16 of the competition.

Now there’s serious interest from various clubs in the Premier League and the rest of Europe, and there’s a real possibility that he would leave Barcelona.

Speaking with Colombian magazine, Bocas, Mina revealed just how tough those moments on the bench were for him and he also got some support from his South American brothers, Paulinho and Philippe Coutinho.

He said: “I was thinking about a lot of things, some were bad, I thought I was finished.”

“Paulinho and Coutinho were there to encourage me every time and they told me “relax, everything will be fine.”

“I understand that there are many incredible player, but I also wanted to play.”

“And in the few minutes I had, it was like everything was crumbling down.”

“When I arrived, to generate a good atmosphere, I started betting with Messi and Suarez to see who kicked the best free-kicks in training.”

“But then I realized I was losing 50 euros everyday.”

“Those monsters put (the ball) wherever they want it. They are great and magical.”

On his future, he said he was calm and it was always a dream to play for Barcelona.
