Barcelona’s transfer move for Antoine Griezmann finally came to an end on Thursday night when the player said he would remain at the Wanda Metropolitano.

Griezmann had been a subject of transfer interest for Barcelona for some time now, but has shown his loyalty to Atletico Madrid by agreeing new and improved terms.

More revelations concerning the soap opera have come to light and this time, Barcelona defender, Gerard Pique, has been fingered for his role in Griezmann’s video.

Recall that on Wednesday night, Cadena COPE revealed that Greizmann would announce his decision via a video.

The video was titled ‘The Decision’ and a short clip featured Greizmann saying: “You will be fed up of the talk about if I’m going to go, if I will stay, how much I will be paid, how much I won’t get, but the truth is that I’m going to say now…”

Pique’s involvement

The video was subsequently deleted and RAC 1 journalist Jordi Baste later revealed that Pique’s company was behind the video.

The link between both players was through the platform ‘Power to the Player’, a business run by Pique in partnership with Sergio Ramos.

It should also be pointed out that Pique had no role to play in Griezmann’s final decision.
