Antonio Conte’s team were the latest English teams to be knocked out of this season’s UEFA Champions League competition.
Conte got his tactical plans right but in the end he was let down by his players who were not clinical in the game. And of course there was Lionel Messi on Barcelona’s team.

Conte said after the game: “When you have the opportunity to make a great compliment to Messi, it’s right to recognise a super, super, super top player.”

Whe asked if he would like to coach Messi, he added: “Good question. I think Leo wants to stay until the end of his career with Barcelona so we are talking about an impossible situation.
“We must have a great respect for this player, a fantastic player. I think he want to stay in Barcelona until the end of his career.”
“I think we are talking about the player that can move the final result for every team,” he said when asked if Chelsea would have won with Messi in blue.
“I think that he started to play with Barcelona and for sure he will finish his career here. For this reason I think many teams can hope to have him in the team but it won’t be possible.
“It’s a great story, for Barcelona and for Messi. This type of player is born once in every 50 years.”
The Blues also had appeals for a penalty waved away when Alonso went down inside the area under a challenge from Gerard Pique.
“We didn’t deserve to lose 3-0,” said Conte. “We were a bit unlucky.
“I think we created many chances but we didn’t take them.
“I must be very proud about my players – they gave everything and we have to continue in this way, with this will to fight and desire to fight together.”
