Barcelona have had one tough summer after losing out on deals like Marco Verratti and Bellerin.

But there’s still the hope of landing Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool as Barcelona directors arrived London on Tuesday. The purpose of their arrival is to speedily seal the deal for the Brazilian, even though the task is a big one.

According to Spanish radio RAC 1, Barcelona have had success in preliminary talks and they have agreed personal terms with the 25-year-old.

Coutinho agreed a new deal with Liverpool last season until 2022 and he remains a central part of Jurgen Klopp’s plans for the coming campaign.

Their urgency to bring in Coutinho is partly related to the future of Neymar at the Camp Nou. They hope the arrival of Coutinho would appease Neymar and make him change his mind relating PSG.

The two players were friends as youth team players and remain friends to this day.

Fee not yet agreed with Liverpool.

Liverpool have insisted that their playmaker is not for sale and Barcelona have some convincing to do. As reported earlier, the Merseyside club have turned down a fee of 80m euros (£72m) for Coutinho.

The Catalans fear Liverpool could hold out for their initial €100 million valuation of the player.
