When you play for a great club like Barcelona with a rich history, there’s just so much you come to learn and experience during your stay.
Thierry Henry joined Barcelona from Arsenal in 2007 and stayed until 2010 when he joined MLS side New York Red Bulls. And in those years, the 39-year-old was fascinated most by what he saw at the La Masia.
The World Cup winner told Barca TV: “When people ask me about Barça, we can talk about trophies, the great games and style of play but I always talk about the Academy and how a team can be so dominant and win so much with so many players from the Academy.”
He continued: “In my time there were 11 players from the youth system and that’s why Barça is more than a club.
“The games, the goals, Camp Nou, it’s everything, I always say that if you like football, you like Barça.”
“Barça is special, I realised that when I played there.”
“For me it is more than a club. When you leave you sense this.
“When you leave you know and understand what it is.
“In my time there were about 11 players from the academy.
“If you like football, you like Barcelona.”
Henry won seven trophies with Barcelona, including two La Liga crowns and one Champions League.
