Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has once again spoken very highly of Lionel Messi. The Argentine has been at Barcelona since he was 13-years-old and has been pivotal to the team’s success.

However,Messi has about 15 months left on his current deal with Barcelona. And the club are sure they would come to an agreement in no distant time.

Barcelona president’s comments on Messi’s future

Speaking at the Festa de l’Esport Català 2016 via SPORT, the Barca supremo said: “Bboth sides are keen to Continue. On Leo’s side, to continue in Barcelona; and on Barça’s side, that Leo continues.”

“Messi is the best player in the world and we will reach an agreement and he will continue. He is still very young. He’s 29 and his performances are at the top level and he will continue here for many more years.”

And he added: “I don’t think it’s inconvenient for him to continue here forever. Well, until he retires from football.”
