George Mason adds Tennessee transfer Victor Bailey Jr., Josh Oduro decides to go through NBA draft evaluation process

George Mason had a mass exodus of former Dave Paulsen players at the end of the season entering the transfer portal. Not surprising for a new head coach rebuilding his roster during his first full recruiting off-season. The first transfer and probably not the last Mason has received is another former player of Kim English from Tennesee, guard Victor Bailey Jr. This will be Bailey’s sixth season as he sat a year at Tennessee when he transferred from Oregon. The 6’4″ has excellent shooting numbers, when in the rotation, and seemed to have been lost on a Volunteers squad that continued to get more loaded at the guard positions since his arrival.

This move will certainly help bring back the veteran leadership they had last year with D’Shawn Schwartz. Hopefully he will excel at the opportunity and minutes here in Fairfax and make an instant impact. Mason now has great depth at the wings with DeVon Cooper, freshman Justyn Fernandez and now Bailey. Next on the transfer shopping list will probably be another point guard and a big to play the 4/5 alongside Josh Oduro.

In other news Josh Oduro is going through the NBA draft evaluation process but still retaining his college eligibility. This move essentially allows him to get feedback from NBA scouts but still return to the NCAA (likely).
