George Mason could land some big time transfers

New head Coach Kim English still has strong connections to PAC-12 power Colorado where he was an assistant coach from 2017-2019. He’s already planning to bring on player turned assistant coach Nate Tomlinson and now it looks like he could bringing some players he formerly recruited. The biggest name is D’Shawn Schwartz, the 6’7″ wing who shot .400 from behind the three-point line this season. Getting someone who started for a team like Colorado would have an instant impact on George Mason, even if they were only here a year. I mentioned on Saturday that the rumors were flying that he could be coming here due to this connection with English and today it seems he officially entered the transfer portal:

Also it seems that teammate and fellow starter Dallas Walton (7’0″) could land in Fairfax. Oh boy…

No matter what happens the roster will look a lot different next season. The transfer portal is crazy right now with everyone getting that “free year”. Even if Mason doesn’t land either of these two guys they could still potentially grab another PAC-12 or ACC caliber player. English certainly seems to have the network and it remains to be seen if players asking to come play here actually materializes.
