George Mason takes on GW in first A-10 tournament game

George Mason faces George Washington tonight at 5:30 pm in their first Atlantic 10 Tournament game at the Robins Center in Richmond. The Patriots won the teams last meeting 63-58 in a game where they dominated the glass (23 offensive rebounds). They will likely need that energy on the glass again tonight as GW will be hungry to play spoilers in this early tournament action. Josh Oduro was tough against this group last time and they will need that again along with Jordan Miller inside to take advantage. They had a less than stellar day shooting the ball in that game also but were still able to grind out the win. I’d expect their shooting to not necessarily start off slow tonight as they’ve been connecting well during this winning streak.

Javon Greene will probably have a large impact on Mason’s overall success during this conference tournament. He’s been a streaky player during this career here but has been a big scoring threat during this little run that the Patriots are on. They will need him to get hot if they want to advance and make sure to keep him rolling in transition. Jordan Miller is the team’s most consistent scorer and will get plenty of attention in this tournament from opposing defenders. Greene can keep things open for guys like him and Oduro inside if he continues to shoot the ball well from the outside.
