Mason beats VCU on the road in OT

I think the most frustrating thing about Dave Paulsen is that we continue to see glimpses of a team that looks like it could very competitive but just not enough. George Mason took down VCU at the Siegel Center, where they have actually won three out of their last four, can you believe that? Josh Oduro had a huge game, which earned him A-10 player of the week, scoring 27 points. Isn’t he something when he doesn’t get into foul trouble? Freshman Otis Frazier also broke out with 10 points in 30 minutes of action and looks like he could be a key contributor down the road. Mason dominated the glass and fought in the second half to over take the Rams, a certain type of pose and confidence we don’t see every game.

Certainly looked like a well put together team, is it simply that they just bad when they bad and good when they are good type of thing? We’ve seen them have certain highs and lows, scoring and on defense. VCU didn’t play great but Mason still could have blown this if they played like they had at some points earlier in the season. They need this kind of Josh Oduro more often than not, maybe if we keep seeing how good he can be on offense that can be here to stay. It would be huge for Mason to have consistency scoring down low

The conference tournament is around the corner, can Mason have a good showing? Most fans seems to want to move on from Paulsen but have to wonder what will happen if they win two games in the tournament or pull off another upset. It will be interesting to see if they can build off this win.
