George Mason is struggling in the A-10 and couldn’t take down Richmond at home even with Javon Greene scoring an EagleBank Arena record 39 points.
What a day for @_javon23!

Per @collegebb_ref, Javon Greene is one of just 10 players since 2010-11 to put up a line of 39 pts/5 stl/4 ast/4 reb or better.

Special day for Greene but it almost came out of necessity with Justin Kier and Jamal Hartwell (illness) out. Overall Mason’s depth wasn’t great heading into this season and now they are really feeling the affects of it. They also lack a consistent scorer to lead them. Can Greene keep this up? He’ll need to if they want to win more than five or six conference games this season.
Richmond is a very strong offensive team and Mason’s defense couldn’t do much to slow them down. Giving up 97 points to anyone in the conference is pretty embarassing especially on your home floor. It’s difficult for me to give Paulsen a pass because of injuries. This is his fifth year and he hasn’t stockpiled talent the way a lot of his A-10 peers have. The team overall continues to look over-matched in many of these recent games.
