George Mason beats Loyola MD to reach 5-0 for the first time in program history

George Mason hit key free throws down the stretch to secure a win last night against Loyola Maryland to reach 5-0 on the year. It’s their best start ever in program history and while it’s less exciting considering their opponents on this run,it’s still a 5-0 start without their best player, Justin Kier. Jordan Miller went 11-for-13 from the free-throw line and made some key shots late in the game to help Mason come away with the win. You have to like seeing how comfortable these young guys are when they’ve had opponents storm back late in these games.

AJ Wilson continues to lead up front and basically has been all over the court helping this team in multiple areas. While it’s not ideal for him to play the 5 it’s been necessary in a lot of these games. He had nine offensive rebounds in this one, yes nine! His effort on the glass has been relentless and has been a big difference maker for Mason.

It’s been far from perfect on this path to 5-0 but they have found ways to win these games against different playing styles. They have got to take advantage of opportunities when they arise and need to be more consistent shooting the ball from behind the arc. Next up is #6 ranked Maryland on Friday which will really showing us what this team is made of.
