An all-new season of the Canadian drama is now available on the streaming service. The Canadian family drama Series Heartland is back for an incredible 15th season, and the new episodes are available on Netflix right now. The Fleming family, who own and operate the Heartland ranch, serve as the inspiration for the show’s protagonists. The loss of Graham Wardle as Ty in the most recent season was especially painful, but the show has maintained a stable core cast for many years. Actress Amber Marshall plays Amy Fleming.

Amy is the granddaughter of Heartland ranch owner Jack and is known for her ability to communicate with horses. In the pilot episode, Amy’s mother Marion was killed in a car accident, and she was injured so badly that she could not travel to her funeral. The first season sees the return of her sister Lou, who had been living and working in New York, and her long-absent father Tim. Amy begins dating the ranch hand Ty Borden, and the two eventually wed and started a family. When Season 14 began, Amy was left to raise their daughter, Lyndy Marion, alone after Ty’s untimely death.

When and where have I seen Amber Marshall before?

Marshall’s acting resume includes roles in television movies like Mutant World (2005) and the horror film Resident Evil: Apocalypse (2004). She occasionally volunteers her time at the local animal hospital and grew up on a ranch with horses.

Samantha Louise “Lou” Fleming Morris is played by Michelle Morgan.

Amy’s sister Lou moves back to Heartland after her mother passes away. She gives up her successful career in New York to run the ranch’s finances. Katie Morris is the result of Lou’s marriage to Peter Morris, the owner of a small oil company, and their subsequent relationship. Subsequently, they adopt Georgie (who doesn’t appear in season 15), but after a number of difficulties, including a move to Dubai, they eventually break up. Lou started a serious relationship with Mitch and is now the Mayor of Hudson.

Morgan has appeared in several Canadian film and television productions, and she has also recently guest-starred on several critically acclaimed American television series, such as Supernatural, The Good Doctor, and Batwoman.

Jackson “Jack” Bartlett is portrayed by Shaun Johnston.

Jack is the grandfather of Amy and Lou and the sole proprietor of the ranch known as Heartland. The retired rodeo star frequently comes to blows with another family member because of his intransigence. After Ty’s death, he becomes Amy’s rock.

When and where have I seen Shaun Johnston before? 

Johnston has appeared on Smallville, The X-Files, and Wynonna Earp, where he plays the recurring role of Juan Carlo in the supernatural Western series.

Taking on the role of Lisa Stillman, Jessica Steen

Lisa is a famous horse breeder and the proprietor of Fairfield Stables. She and Jack were married after a long and tumultuous relationship throughout the series. Additionally, she serves as godmother to Katie, the daughter of Lou and Peter.

When and where have I seen Jessica Steen before? 

Steen has made appearances in a number of popular American television series, such as Homefront, ER, NCIS, and Supernatural. She has also appeared on Grey’s Anatomy, an ongoing medical drama, and Flashpoint, a Canadian drama, both in recurring roles. Jennifer Watts, the co-pilot, was played by her in Michael Bay’s epic disaster film Armageddon.

Tim Fleming, played by Chris Potter.

Tim, Amy and Lou’s dad, shows up at the beginning of the series. Because of his substance abuse, he had become estranged from his relatives. As a new guest at the ranch, Jessica, he has found himself developing feelings he never expected. 

When and where have I seen Chris Potter before? 

Potter voiced Gambit in the iconic X-Men: The Animated Series and also appeared in the American version of Queer as Folk by Russell T. Davies. The Young and the Restless, a long-running US soap opera, featured him in a recurring role as con artist Evan Owen.

Caleb Odell, played by Kerry James

Caleb, a ranch hand, was Ty (Amy’s husband’s best )’s friend.

Kerry James seems familiar, but I can’t place her.

Though his role on Heartland has brought him the most fame, James has also guest-starred on Stargate Universe and in the 2010 TV movie The Boy Who Cried Werewolf.

Jade Verani, portrayed by Madison Cheeatow

Jade is Georgie’s best friend and a free-spirited rodeo enthusiast. She is a tough nut to crack and will stand up for what she thinks in the face of adversity.

Just where have I seen Madison Cheeatow before?

Katie McGrath (Merlin) appeared in the first season of the Shudder original series Slasher, and Chinatown was featured in the second. She was also a main character on the Canadian show Hudson.

Parker Yang, played by Ava Tran

Parker, Jade’s new step-sister, is a city dweller who is also an environmentalist and climate activist. She is very opinionated, and almost all of her points of view irritate Jack.

Tran made her acting debut in Season 14 of Heartland.
